Luce doesn't hit theaters until Aug. 2, but it's already drumming up plenty of buzz. Now that we've seen the stressful trailer for the upcoming thriller [1], we know why.

The film follows an all-star high school athlete and student named Luce (It Comes at Night's Kelvin Harrison Jr.) who was adopted from a war-torn country a decade earlier by his parents (Naomi Watts [2] and Tim Roth). Despite his good grades and stellar reputation, one of his teachers (Octavia Spencer) seems to have it out for him. What follows is a psychological cat and mouse game that begs the question: is Luce the victim of a dangerous case of stereotyping, or is there something sinister behind his seemingly innocent facade?
