At this point, Melissa McCarthy is to the Gilmore Girls [1] reboot as the Olsen twins were to Fuller House [2]. Will she be on it? Has she even been asked? Will we ever know what's become of Sookie? A new interview has shed some light on the situation, but here's what's been going on.

First, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told TVLine that she reached out to McCarthy's camp [3]. Then, McCarthy tweeted that [4] "no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow." But just recently, she popped up in an Instagram [5] with her former Gilmore Girls [6] costar Yanic Truesdale!

In an interview with E! News, McCarthy said that she's not coming back [7]. "I don't think I am. I didn't actually get asked to do it. But I think they thought I was busy, and then by the time it did come up, then I actually was . . . I'm actually thrilled that it's happening. I loved that show, and I think the fans for that show are super loyal and great and I will watch every single one of them."

Most recently, McCarthy made an exclusive announcement on The Ellen DeGeneres Show [8] that she will be returning. Woo hoo!
