The comedic all-star beat out repeat nominees like Pamela Adlon and Allison Janney for the win and stepped up on stage on Monday night to deliver a passionate speech that doubled as a call to action for women across the country.

"This is about a woman finding her voice anew, something that's happening all over the country right now," she said of her character, Midge. "If you haven't already registered [to vote], do it on your cellphone right now. Vote, bring a friend, show up at the polls."
