We hope you're excited for the Sweetbitter adaptation [1], because it's absolutely charming. The series, which premieres this month and is based on Stephanie Danler's hit 2016 novel [2], tells the story of Tess, who comes of age while working as a server in one of NYC's top restaurants. The character is played perfectly by British actress Ella Purnell, who joins a stunning ensemble cast including Tom Sturridge and Caitlin Fitzgerald. Since the first episode of Sweetbitter is upon us, there's no better time to get to know all of the actors who are bringing your favorite characters to life. Meet them all below!
Ella Purnell as Tess
Purnell isn't exactly a household name quite yet, but there's a good chance you've seen the 21-year-old star before. She played Emma in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and popped up in 2013's Kick-Ass 2 as Dolce.
Tom Sturridge as Jake
The British actor will be playing irresistible bad boy bartender Jake, and there's no question that he looks the part. Before this Sturridge enjoyed a successful run in Broadway's 1984, and has appeared in films like Far from the Madding Crowd, On the Road, and Waiting for Forever.
Daniyar as Sasha
Sasha's biting humor will be brought to life by Russian actor Daniyar, who's appeared in Scandal and Claws.
Caitlin FitzGerald as Simone
Simone is one of Sweetbitter's more interesting characters, acting as a mentor for Tess as she learns more about food and wine (and Jake). She'll be played by Caitlin FitzGerald, who's currently starring on UnReal after playing Libby on Masters of Sex.
Evan Jonigkeit as Will
The X-Men: Days of Future Past actor will play Will, one of Tess's fellow servers at the restaurant. He's also appeared in Easy, Frontier, and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
Jasmine Mathews as Heather
Heather will be one of Jasmine Mathews's first roles, since she's only appeared in Blue Bloods and the Heathers remake.
Paul Sparks as Howard
The House of Cards and Boardwalk Empire alum has signed on as Howard, the seedy manager of Tess's restaurant.
Eden Epstein as Ariel
After roles in the 2017 movie Blind and the TV show In Between Men, Eden Epstein will appear in Sweetbitter as Ariel, one of the wilder people who work at the restaurant.
