This year has been full of exceptional TV shows [1], but not every network has been kind to them. Alas, with 2019 coming to a close, we've seen ABC, Netflix, Amazon, CBS, and more networks give series after series the boot. While we've known for quite some time that certain beloved series would be wrapping up this year — The Big Bang Theory, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend — other announcements admittedly caught us by surprise. Take a look at all the dramas, comedies, and everything in between that will take its last on-air gasp in 2019, ahead.
ABC
- Speechless: The sitcom will not return for a fourth season.
- Splitting Up Together: The Jenna Fischer-led series was canceled after its sophomore season.
- For the People: The law drama came to an end after it's second season.
- The Kids Are Alright: The freshman comedy series starring The Walking Dead [3]'s Michael Cudlitz has been canceled.
- The Fix: The legal drama has been canceled in the middle of its first season.
- Whiskey Cavalier: There won't be a season two of this spy dramedy starring Lauren Cohan and Scott Foley.
Amazon
- Forever: Maya Rudolf and Fred Armisen's afterlife comedy did not get renewed for season two.
- Sneaky Pete: The drama, co-created by Bryan Cranston and from Sony TV, was scrapped after three seasons.
- Too Old to Die Young: The drama will not return for a second season.
- Patriot: The adventures of intelligence officer John Tavner (Michael Dorman) have ended after season one.
- The Romanoffs: This anthology series has concluded for good following its first season.
- Lore: The podcast-inspired horror series got canceled by Amazon this Summer.
- The Tick: Despite being well-received, the superhero comedy will not return [4] for a third season.
CBS
- The Big Bang Theory: The long-running sitcom officially came to an end after airing its series finale earlier this year.
- Instinct: The detective drama has been nixed [5] and will not come back for a third season.
- Life in Pieces: The family comedy has four seasons under its belt, but will not get a fifth.
- Murphy Brown: Despite the revival of the classic series reportedly "looking forward" to a second season [6], it's been axed.
- Ransom: After three seasons, the Luke Roberts-led drama ended for good.
- Happy Together: CBS canceled the pop star comedy after one season.
- Fam: The freshman comedy series will not return for another season.
The CW
- Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Rachel Bloom's zany, heartfelt comedy wrapped up for good in 2019.
- Jane the Virgin: After five romantic seasons, Jane's story came to a close.
- iZombie: Despite a strong fan base, the comedy about a woman living day-to-day as a zombie took its final stroll among the living this year after five seasons on the air.
Fox
- The Passage: After closing out its first season, the Mark-Paul Gosselaar-starrer has been canceled.
- Rel: The comedy only lasted one season at the network before the plug was pulled.
- The Gifted: The X-Men spinoff was canceled by Fox in April.
- Lethal Weapon: After some intense cast drama [7] and behind-the-scenes troubles [8], the series was canceled after season three.
- Proven Innocent: The legal series was canceled in May.
Freeform
- Cloak and Dagger: The superhero series starring Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph was canceled after just two seasons [9].
Hulu
- The First: The space drama starring Sean Penn [10] will not return for a second season [11].
HBO
- Ballers: The comedy series starring Dwayne Johnson will end with its forthcoming fifth season [12], which debuted on Aug. 25.
NBC
- A.P. Bio: Creator Mike O'Brien revealed the comedy series had been scrapped [13] after two seasons, but then was later revived for a third and final season on NBC's streaming service.
- Abby's: The bartender comedy ended after its first season.
- Trial & Error: The series was canceled after two seasons [14].
- I Feel Bad: The book-based comedy series will not return for a sophomore season.
- The Good Place: Michael Schur, the show's creator and executive producer, confirmed that the comedy will end with its fourth season [15].
- The InBetween: The supernatural drama was canceled after one season [16].
Netflix
- She's Gotta Have It: After two seasons of Nola Darling's adventures, the series was canceled [17] shortly after the release of season two.
- The OA: The complex drama starring Britt Marling was canceled after airing its second season.
- One Day at a Time: The family sitcom got the boot from Netflix, but luckily POP TV picked it up!
- Chambers: The Tony Goldwyn and Uma Thurman-led sci-fi drama won't come back for season two.
- BoJack Horseman: The comedy will end after its sixth and final season.
- Tuca & Bertie: The animated series starring Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong was canceled after one season.
- Orange Is the New Black [18]: The long-running prison drama ended with its seventh and final season.
- Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Tina Fey [19]'s colorful comedy officially came to an end in January [20] when it aired the second and final part of season four.
- Travelers: The series starring Eric McCormack was canceled after three seasons [21].
- Friends From College: The dark comedy has two seasons under its belt, but won't get a third [22].
- Jessica Jones: Despite a strong fanbase and (mostly) positive critical reception, the Marvel series has been canceled (it still aired its third season).
- Iron Fist: Unsurprisingly, this poorly-received Marvel series got axed.
- Luke Cage: The Mike Colter superhero series was among the Marvel shows to be canceled by Netflix.
- The Punisher: Not long after its second season premiered, it was announced that Netflix has pulled the plug on the show, which was Marvel's last TV series on the streaming giant.
- Santa Clarita Diet: The Drew Barrymore [23] and Timothy Olyphant-led zombie comedy will not return [24] after its third season (no matter how many signatures this Change.org petition [25] gets).
- Travelers: The series starring Eric McCormack has been canceled after three seasons [26].
- All About the Washingtons: The family comedy will not return for another season.
Showtime
- Showtime: Following a critically-acclaimed first season, Showtime canceled Frankie Shaw's single mom comedy after she fielded allegations of on-set misconduct [27]. However, its second season continued to air until its scheduled series finale on March 31.
- The Affair: The critically-acclaimed drama will end with its fifth and final season this year.
SyFy
- Channel Zero: After four seasons, the creepy-crawly anthology series has been canceled [28].
- Deadly Class: The action-packed assassin series got taken out after season one.
- Happy: The show was canceled after airing two seasons.
- Nightflyers: The space-set sci-fi drama's wings were clipped in February when the network canceled it.
