The Viscount Is Torn Between 2 Loves in "Bridgerton" Season 2

Mar 18 2022 - 2:55pm

"Bridgerton" [1] season two is just around the corner, and we couldn't be more excited about the drama and romances ahead. Last season took us on a wild journey with Simon (Regé-Jean Page [2]) and Daphne's (Phoebe Dynevor) relationship, and the upcoming season promises to be just as thrilling, with new leading ladies Kate [3] (Simone Ashley) and Edwina Sharma [4] (Charithra Chandran). The Duke of Hastings won't be returning [5] for this adventure; instead, the spotlight will be on Daphne's brother, Viscount Anthony (Jonathan Bailey [6]), as he looks for a wife.

A teaser trailer for the Netflix series arrived on Feb. 14 with a message from our beloved Lady Whistledown. "What happens when duty is in conflict with the heart's true desire? Why, then, there is the potential for a considerable scandal indeed," she says in the clip. The show's official trailer, which dropped on March 9, puts a spotlight on Kate and Anthony's courtship — and assures us that Lady Whistledown has more gossip than ever to share. Just a week before the new season's premiere, Netflix released another short clip to clue us in on the Viscount's dilemma, as he's torn between two compelling women.

In addition to "Bridgerton"'s stacked cast [7], which includes a handful of new stars, we have more details about what to expect in season two [8]. Read ahead for everything you could possibly want to know, including the full cast, plot, trailers, and first-look photos.

"Bridgerton" Season 2 Plot

The second season will follow "The Viscount Who Loved Me," [10] the second book in Julia Quinn's book series. This time around, we'll see the oldest Bridgerton son, Anthony, set out to find a wife. Along the way, he finds himself in a love triangle of sorts with a woman named Edwina [11] and her older stepsister, Kate.

"Bridgerton" Season 2 Cast

As previously announced, Regé-Jean Page will not be returning [12] for season two, but his onscreen wife, Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton), will be back, alongside a handful of other season one stars — including Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton), and more. There are also a few new cast members, including Simone Ashley [13] and Charithra Chandran, who will be playing the aforementioned Kate and Edwina, respectively. We'll also get to meet the late Bridgerton patriarch, played by Rupert Evans.

"Bridgerton" Season 2 Release Date

"Bridgerton" season two started filming in early May, and we've gotten a handful of glimpses [14] of the new season. On Christmas (which happened to be the one-year anniversary of season one), Netflix announced that season two will premiere on March 25.

Bailey and Ashley filmed a video for the announcement, alongside costars Andoh, Rosheuvel, Jessie, Chandran, and Newton. "Is that Whistledown? What's she got to say today? The cheeky little mistress," Bailey says in the clip, reading a letter from Lady Whistledown aloud: "It's customary for a first anniversary to gift paper, dear readers. I do hope you find this one informative. 'Bridgerton' returns March 25." The cast members revealed while reading the letter that this was also their first time finding out when season two would arrive.

"Bridgerton" Season 2 First-Look Trailer
