The newest film in the Harry Potter [1] franchise, "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore," is on the way. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 15, marking the third entry in the Fantastic Beasts series, which plans on having five total films.
The cast had some major shakeups since the second film, "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald," [2] was released back in 2018. In "Fantastic Beasts 3," Mads Mikkelsen makes his debut as Gellert Grindelwald [3] — the villain role previously played by Johnny Depp [4] in the first two movies. Harry Potter fans know that not only is Grindelwald one of the wizarding world's most dangerous villains, but he was also the childhood sweetheart of Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law [5]). Rounding out the cast are series veterans, including Eddie Redmayne [6], Ezra Miller [7], Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Jessica Williams, and Callum Turner.
On April 11, Warner Bros. released the final trailer for the film, setting the stage for a major showdown for the fate of the wizarding world. In the new footage, Dumbledore and his assembled helpers head to the kingdom of Bhutan to try to stop Grindelwald once and for all.

According to Variety, the official logline for the film [9] reads: "Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald's growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?"

Just like the first two films, which were set in NYC and Paris, respectively, the third film will jump to new locations [11]. Most of the action is split between Berlin, Germany and the kingdom of Bhutan. Some of the movie was filmed in Rio de Janeiro, Germany.

David Yates, who previously worked on the past two Fantastic Beasts movies and a handful of Harry Potter [12] films, will return to direct the third film. The script is by J. K. Rowling [13] and Steve Kloves.

In November 2020, it was announced that Mads Mikkelsen would be replacing Johnny Depp [14] as Grindelwald in the third film. The rest of the cast includes Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Jude Law [15] (Albus Dumbledore), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) as well as Jessica Williams as Professor Eulalie "Lally" Hicks, who will have a significantly larger role in this film [16].
