A Monster Mash That's Far From Spooky

It doesn't have to be Halloween for you to throw your tot a monster-themed bash. Just ask Rachel Scott and Victoria Luhrs. When the creative ladies behind RV Parties were asked to plan an event for 3-year-old Henry, they knew they had to make monsters the focal point.

"The guest of honor had quite the personality, and a sweet little monster theme suited him perfectly," Rachel says. To keep the festivity from feeling like a Halloween bash, the two stuck to kid-friendly colors and creatures. And, of course, some special effects.

"Googly eyes helped make the monsters fun," Rachel says. Scroll through to see how these two planned a monster bash that was all fun and no fright.

Welcome to the Monster Mash

Inspired by a Spoonflower fabric, Rachel and Victoria kept the colors to bright blue, green, yellow, and orange.

Craft Time

To keep kids busy, crayons and coloring pages were placed around the house — literally! Rachel and Victoria taped the tapestry to the walls.

What little monster wouldn't want to gobble up these treats?

Cute Cakes

Rachel and Victoria added their own cupcake wrappers and toppers to Got What It Cakes's goodies.

Cookie Monster

Bright yellow icing made these homemade treats pop!

Cyclops Pop

For more bite-size treats, Got What It Cakes whipped up some adorable cake pops.

Sweet Attack

Fondant creatures were the key to Got What It Cakes's custom confection.

Picture-Perfect Plates

Rachel and Victoria made the place settings extraspecial with their custom-made printables, which are available on their Etsy shop.

Not-So-Scary Sips

Wrappers turned typical juice glasses into a fun party feature.

Sweet Sticks

These homemade snacks were served in DIY googly-eye vases.

Photo Op

Rachel and Victoria set up a photo booth station with handmade props.

Say "Cheese!"

And as you can see, they were put to good use.

Special Guests

Colorful monster prints and cozy toys served as the main decoration.

Cute, Cuddly Creatures

Instead of goody bags, guests were given stuffed monsters designed by Hermosa Fiber Company.
