Remember the old days when, to make a cake, all you had to do was empty a box and spread frosting on the finished product? Well, no more. Colorful and hilarious new food trends like fat unicorn cakes [2] and whimsical mermaid cakes [3] are just the top layer of awe-inspiring cake decorations, because now we can add pom-pom cakes to the mix (get it?). Yes, pom-pom cakes, and man do they look fluffy and delicious!
Home baker Katherine Sabath [4] has found a way to turn dreamy marshmallows and coconut flakes into the charming pom-poms from grade school. Placed atop a decadent vanilla velvet cake, this dessert looks (and sounds) like it's seriously to die for.
