Oh, Karl! How you do what you do. The mastermind behind Chanel turned the Grand Palais into a beach, sending models down the runway in tweeds that somehow looked proper amongst the sand and lavish sundresses with a retro kick. It was the accessories that stole the show, though. Everyone will be talking about and posting about the Chanel beach ball purse for days, we're calling it now.
But when we do finally arrive at Spring 2019, we bet you'll find most ladies flaunting the PVC sandals with a lucite heel, which come in lovely shades of coral and sky blue. Instead of furry chain-strap bags, the new version comes in a fabric like your big, fluffy bathrobe, and there are quilted clutches that look puffed up like your average pool float.
There are plenty of straw hats and lunchboxes, too, so if you like to keep it classic with a Chanel picnic by the sea, you'll be set. One thing's for sure: next Spring, we are headed to the beach, and Karl has provided us with all the right outfit accoutrements.
It came affixed to a chain strap in metallic tones. Some were even see-through, like your typical blow-up beach ball.
"Fluff" is the best way we'd describe the fabric, which probably feels a lot like the bath rug you've got next to your shower at home.
Karl affixed two pouches to a body chain that crossed over the shoulders, for the ultimate bag lady on the go.
They came in expected shades like black and cherry red, but we're partial to the sky blue and coral colors. All are equipped with a lucite heel.
It offers a touch of height and makes for the perfect poolside vacation shoe.
Because the trend is still going strong, Karl sent two envelope waist pouches down the runway in black and white.
This one comes in shades you might see on a beach tent. It looks "blown up" like your tube or float.
Models cinched them over sundresses and wore them low-slung around the waist over skirts and jeans.
Of course, the fashion house's iconic fabric made its way onto some of the bags, too.
Find them sprinkled on a clutch or a colorful purse.
Of course, if you're an oversize beach tote gal at heart, Karl doesn't disappoint. Embroidery and crochet makes these stand out.
