While we still aren't sure exactly when Legally Blonde 3 will be released, we always have a grand old time looking back at the first Legally Blonde film, released in 2001 when we all met Elle Woods and fell deeply in love with her style and quirky sense of humor. Reese Witherspoon wore every trend from the early aughts with confidence, portraying her character with an extra side of pink sass — scented paper and all.

To this day, there's something about the film that still reminds me of being the new kid on campus and impressing them all with a wardrobe to stand out — like, way out. It's left me no other option than to take inspiration from the very best moments and dress with a little more personality and flavor for fall 2020. If there ever was a time to refresh your wardrobe with styles that make you — and others — happy, it's right now. From Elle's hot pink leather co-ord set to her date night halter dress, I'm taking a page from everyone's favorite lawyer and shopping her closet. I found plenty of similar silhouettes marked down, too, so if you're trying to sell it to me for full price, you've picked the wrong girl.

A Fun Hat

Why not give your bucket hat and baseball cap a break and try a newsboy cap in a bright color this fall?

A Pink Means Business Dress

Who says sophisticated can't take the form of a hot pink dress?

Bright Outerwear

If there ever was a year to invest in a statement coat, it'd be this one, when we could all use a mood-boosting burst of color.

An Animal-Print Date Night Dress

Life's too short to go on dates in standard LBDs that run the risk of being forgotten about.

Robe Dressing

Of course robes can be worn outside the house, and Elle Woods is proof that we can jazz them up.

Birkenstocks

Yes, Birks are back. The classic slides took us through summer, and now we're interested in adding a pair of Boston shoes back into the rotation for fall — to be worn with socks and lounge wear.

A Fuzzy Jacket

Something cropped and flirty — but for fall, not for summer. Bonus points if you match your lenses.

A Colorful Coordinated Set

While we may not all reach for hot pink leather like Elle, wearing a bright shade from head-to-toe is an instant mood booster — for others, too!

A Printed Silk Blouse

Vintage-inspired and luxe, these invite us to feel perfectly polished and ready for work.

A Sheer Blouse

Don't shy away from retro prints and multicolored layers — especially if you're keeping it simple with jeans on the bottom.
