There's something unique about figure skating routines that whether they're set to DJ Snake and Lil Jon's "Turn Down For What" [1] or more serious music like "The Room Where It Happens" from Hamilton [2], the impact is equally as impressive. During the European Figure Skating Championships [3] on Jan. 18, French figure skater Maé-Bérénice Méité learned that all it takes is a little Beyoncé to get the crowd on their feet. Méité opened at the competition in Moscow with a cover of "Halo," then transitioned into an insanely fierce performance of Beyoncé's original "Run the World (Girls)."
You don't have to be a member of the Beyhive [5] to be impressed by Méité's routine. The badass skater has been wowing on the ice since she was just 5 years old, later winning her first senior national title at the 2014 French Championships and representing France at the Winter Olympics in Sochi later that year, where she finished 10th [6]. Watch her Beyoncé performance above, and prepare to start buzzing. Then, check out this helpful breakdown of how figure skating is scored [7].
