Celebrate Valentine's Day All Month With Our February Must Haves

Feb 14 2015 - 10:00am

We're celebrating Valentine's Day all month long with the new foodie things we adore — from mini Chandon sparkling wine bottles to a comforting cookbook for two. Treat yourself or a special someone . . .

MistoBox Coffee Gram

Here's a sweet and inexpensive way to send valentines to your loved ones: MistoBox Coffee Gram [1] ($5). Each envelope contains two ounces of fresh artisan roasted coffee and a customizable Valentine's message.

Pacific Organic Chicken With Ginger Bone Broth

Slightly spicy and not too salty, Pacific Organic Chicken With Ginger Bone Broth [2] ($2) will be my go-to broth when I'm under the weather and seeking something comforting.

Drop Kitchen Scale

Think of Drop [3] ($100) as the kitchen scale of the future. Paired with an iPad or iPad mini via a free app, it includes all the features of a conventional scale plus some seriously cool extras like a catalog of step-by-step recipes from the likes of Food52 and Good Housekeeping. Don't have enough flour for that recipe? Drop's got your back: when a recipe is queued up, it senses this and can scale a recipe accordingly, no math on your part needed.

Herradura 2014 Scotch Cask Finish Reposado Tequila

Mixing scotch and tequila may not sound like a great idea, but Herradura's new limited-edition 2014 Scotch Cask Finish Reposado [4] ($90) is actually kind of genius. The Jalisco, Mexico-based brand further aged its reposado tequila in scotch barrels sourced from Scotland for three months — with surprisingly delicious results. We sipped it and were blown away by how well the depth and spice of the tequila paired with the vanilla and wood-smoke notes of the scotch barrels. Now this is the kind of international incident we can get behind.

Date Night In Cookbook

I'm not exactly the sentimental sort, but when I learned that one of my favorite bloggers, Not Without Salt's [5] Ashley Rodriguez, was expanding her Dating My Husband series into a cookbook: Date Night In: More Than 120 Recipes to Nourish Your Relationship [6] ($23), I instantly preordered a copy. Inventive recipes are organized into menus ranging from the low fuss to the more involved. I can think of no better gift to yourself (and your relationship) come Valentine's Day.

Chandon Rosé Minis

Cocktail hours, weddings, and parties will get a kick out of these Chandon Rosé mini bottles [7] ($8). If visiting the winery, be on the lookout for these attachable sippers to make for daintier drinking.

David's Tea/Etsy Mugs

David's Tea [8] is partnering with three Etsy artists to showcase eight handmade mugs ($30 each). The pieces will be available in select stores and online starting Feb. 4.

Silpat Sushi Roll Mat

Rolling sushi up in a bamboo mat (covered in saran) can be a struggle, especially for beginner sushi makers. However, this Silpat Sushi Roll Mat [9] ($19) may be a game changer. The petite nonstick mat makes it easy and mess-free to create homemade sushi.

Soul Food Love

Soul food is known for being comforting and ultraflavorful; what its not typically associated with is healthfulness. Soul Food Love [10] ($30) by Alice Randall and Caroline Randall Williams (a mother-daughter duo) aims to change that with a collection of lighter, produce-centric recipes. Some that stand out include: red spread (a broiled bell pepper and eggplant dip, similar in texture to baba ghanouj), African chickpea soup, spicy roasted sweet potatoes with pomegranate, and a new-school fruit salad comprised of watermelon, avocado, cherry tomatoes, and feta.

Compartés Chocolate With Gray Malin

Fine-art photographer Gray Malin [11] has partnered with boutique chocolate company Compartés [12] to bring us candy bars that are just as pretty as they are delicious. White-chocolate-lovers will go crazy for the butterscotch and sprinkle bar called Beach Sprinkles, while milk-chocolate fiends will obsess over the crunchy Sweet Sea — yes, it has waffle-cone bits in it. I'm excited to hand these chocolate-bar gift sets [13] ($28) out to my friends.
