Starbucks's Pastry Case Is About to Get a MAJOR Upgrade

Starbucks has announced a new partnership with the Italian bakery Princi [1]. This news comes about a year after the coffee chain shuttered all of its La Boulange French bakery locations [2]. Princi prides itself on handmade Italian pastries, baked in an "always-on" beechwood-burning oven. According to a press release [3], Starbucks will "exclusively offer food from artisan Italian bakery Princi at all new Roastery locations" including the upcoming New York City [4] and Shanghai [5] Roasteries and any Starbucks Reserve-only concept stores that will debut in 2017. Although the menu has not been released yet, Starbucks has mentioned it will include some exclusive pastries, a few Princi bestsellers, and breakfast and dinner options. In addition to these announcements, Starbucks plans to expand standalone Princi cafe locations into international markets starting next year.
