You'll Want to Splurge on Trisha Yearwood's New Summer Barbecue Foods

Sep 11 2017 - 9:45pm

Williams-Sonoma has collaborated with Trisha Yearwood [1] for a brand-new exclusive food collection. These pantry shortcuts are intended to "make Summer fun, easy, and of course, delicious," says Trisha in a behind-the-scenes video [2]. "It revolves around food, and family, and friends. What's better than than? Mmm-hmm." Now, if these products are out of your price range, don't worry. You can still cook Trisha's recipes — I've included them all here. The best part is, they are all simple and straightforward.

The Collection

Trisha Yearwood's BBQ Sauce and Applewood Molasses Rub

What Trisha says: "For me, it's not Summer without pork ribs. That is my thing. When I was growing up, my aunt and uncle used to make ribs every Fourth of July, and good ribs just bring me right back. I always season them with a rub and then finish them with a sauce that combines savory and sweet."

What's important to note: The Applewood Molasses Rub contains applewood smoked sea salt. I've bought some from Williams-Sonoma in the past and it's one of the easiest ways to add smoked flavor to foods without cooking it in a smoker! Fun fact: her original rub recipe calls for soy sauce to add a savory touch to the mix.

Trisha Yearwood's Biscuit Mix

What Trisha says: "When I was growing up, my daddy would fix a big family breakfast for us on Saturday mornings. One thing he always made were his special buttermilk biscuits. I loved walking into the kitchen, sleepy-eyed — and seeing Daddy wearing a big apron covered in flour as he made those wonderful biscuits for us to
enjoy warm from the oven."

What's important to note: The original recipe calls for self-rising flour, buttermilk, and shortening — exactly what's in the mix!

Trisha Yearwood's Summer in a Cup, Cocktail Mix

What Trisha says: "This breezy cocktail came to be on a hot Summer day in Oklahoma when my friends
and I were lazing around the pool. My friend Mandy went inside and made some drinks to cool us off. Her original concoction had fruit punch and coconut rum in it. She took one sip and said, 'Now that's Summer in a cup!' It's been our favorite summertime tradition ever since."

What's important to note: The bottled version has a mix of pineapple, tangerine, and dark cherry juice, whereas the original recipe calls for fruit punch. Trisha spikes hers with banana liqueur and coconut rum.

Trisha Yearwood's Unfried Chicken Kit

What Trisha says: "I love fried chicken, but in the spirit of everything in moderation, I came up with a healthier, unfried version of the South's favorite bird. This mix lets me enjoy classic fried chicken — without the added calories and fat. Instead, I add crunch with whole-grain panko breadcrumbs, then pump up the flavor with a special blend of parmesan cheese, lemon, and lots of peppery spices."

What's important to note: The mix is exactly like the original recipe! Whole-grain panko, grated parmesan, lemon zest, and red pepper flakes coat the buttermilk-dredged chicken.
