4 Things Design-Lovers Need to Know About the New Goop Pop-Up Shop

Jun 21 2016 - 6:15am

San Francisco is the latest city to host Gwyneth Paltrow [1]'s Goop pop-up shop. The lifestyle site has previously opened four temporary stores in Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, and Chicago that sell a selection of products handpicked by Gwyneth herself. The Goop MRKT set up shop in an iconic Frank Lloyd Wright building on San Francisco's Maiden Lane that interior designer Steven Volpe brought back to life after it sat vacant for years. The brightly lit space is so meticulously designed and decorated that you'll forget almost everything can be yours with a swipe of your credit card.

For this pop-up shop, we noticed an emphasis on products perfect for our kitchens and bathrooms, and it comes as no surprise, seeing as Gwyneth is promoting the launch of her new skin care line, Goop Beauty [2], and the release of her most recent cookbook, It's All Easy [3]. When we visited the Goop MRKT, we had the pleasure of speaking with Blair Lawson, head merchandiser for Goop, who spoke to us about working with Gwyneth to curate the shop and explained the lifestyle site's brilliant approach to commerce.

The Building Inspired the Guggenheim Museum

The Frank Lloyd Wright building in San Francisco's Maiden Lane was once home to the V.C. Morris Gift Shop, a highly respected home goods store, and its circular ramp design became a prototype for the Guggenheim Museum.

Goop MRKT Showcases Local San Francisco Artisans

Steven Volpe brought in furniture and products from local artisans to really capture the design spirit of San Francisco. The wall art, decorative tassels, candles, and vases cohesively blended in with the rest of the products handpicked by Gwyneth.

The Cookbook Is Shoppable

Gwyneth wanted her readers to get the whole Goop experience when cooking the recipes from her cookbook at home. That's why she offers tips and suggested pairings for many of the recipes in the book. But the best part? Every kitchen item pictured is available for purchase — yes, you can be just like Gwyneth and plate your key lime tarts on powder pink ceramics [4]!

Products Can Be Bought in Store or Online

Most of the products, or similar offerings, are on sale at Goop MRKT now until May 22 or online on Goop's online cookbook shop. Keep reading to see some of our favorite home products from the shop.
