There were no boos during Michelle Obama's DNC convention speech [5] this evening. Though other speakers struggled [6] to speak over chants for "Bernie," Michelle's remarks were powerful and packed with denunciations of Donald Trump.
First, Michelle pointed out how "Hillary Clinton has never quit on a thing in her life." But after she announced her support of Clinton, she landed several sly jabs at Trump — without even mentioning him by name. Some highlights from Michelle's speech:
- On encouraging her daughters to ignore hate: "Our motto is, 'When they go low, we go high.'"
- "I want a president who knows that the problems of the world cannot be boiled down to 140 characters."
- "Don't let anyone ever tell you that this country isn't great. That somehow we need to make it great again. Because this, right now, is the greatest country on earth."
- "I want a president with a record of public service, someone whose life work shows our children we don't chase fame and fortune for ourselves."
