There were no boos during Michelle Obama's DNC convention speech this evening. Though other speakers struggled to speak over chants for "Bernie," Michelle's remarks were powerful and packed with denunciations of Donald Trump.
First, Michelle pointed out how "Hillary Clinton has never quit on a thing in her life." But after she announced her support of Clinton, she landed several sly jabs at Trump — without even mentioning him by name. Some highlights from Michelle's speech:
- On encouraging her daughters to ignore hate: "Our motto is, 'When they go low, we go high.'"
- "I want a president who knows that the problems of the world cannot be boiled down to 140 characters."
- "Don't let anyone ever tell you that this country isn't great. That somehow we need to make it great again. Because this, right now, is the greatest country on earth."
- "I want a president with a record of public service, someone whose life work shows our children we don't chase fame and fortune for ourselves."
