When Samantha Johnson's cat, Gunther, went missing late in December, her two children — especially her son Nick — were devastated. The outdoor cat went missing at some point while the family was on vacation [1], and though they posted photos of him on Facebook and looked everywhere, he was nowhere to be found. After a few days of looking, the family got a call from Animal Control [2], sharing that they found a cat that looked like Gunther who was unfortunately hit by a car and didn't make it.

With her kids' hearts completely shattered over the news, Samantha was grateful when her family was gifted a kitten by someone in town who wanted to help make the kids feel a little better. The next day, however, their little hearts were mended when they came home from school looking for their new kitten to find that Gunther had returned. In a video Samantha posted to Facebook of their reunion, her kids are both shocked to see Gunther [3] relaxing atop the back of the couch, and Nick, bless his heart, is completely overcome with emotion and breaks down as he hugs his fur friend [4].
