Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes were joined by their costar Bradley Cooper when they screened their new film, The Place Beyond the Pines, in NYC yesterday. Ryan wore a green velvet Gucci suit while his girlfriend, Eva, donned an orange Prada frock. Bradley made the trip to the Big Apple from Boston, where he is currently filming a still-untitled David O. Russell film alongside Amy Adams and his Silver Linings Playbook costar Jennifer Lawrence. He was spotted earlier this month wearing pink curlers on set, but at the premiere he showed no signs of a wavier 'do, instead opting to slick his long hair back off his face. Katie Holmes was also in attendance after returning to the Big Apple from a Spring break trip to Disney World with Suri.

Fans of Ryan Gosling may want to catch this film, which opens in theaters today, as the actor recently announced that he might be taking a break from acting. Don't forget to check out our review of The Place Beyond the Pines to see if Ryan's latest project is for you.

The Place Beyond the Pines: A Gripping Generational Story

The Place Beyond the Pines finds Ryan Gosling reteaming with his Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance for a striking drama about fathers and sons.

The Place Beyond the Pines finds Ryan Gosling reteaming with his Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance for a striking drama about fathers and sons. Gosling plays Handsome Luke (yes, he's even dubbed a heartthrob by the announcer at the carnival for which he does motorcycle stunts), a guy from the wrong side of the tracks who finds out he has a baby with an old fling, Romina (Eva Mendes). Luke's discovery and subsequent foray into robbing banks in a misguided attempt to provide for his family would be enough fodder for a whole movie, but The Place Beyond the Pines takes a sharp turn with the entrance of Avery (Bradley Cooper), a well-to-do cop who has a run-in with Luke while on call. Almost immediately, the film becomes Avery's story until the final third when it picks up 15 years later. It's an unorthodox format, but the risk pays off.

The way the film is laid out is one of its most unexpected and potentially polarizing elements, as viewers expecting to see Cooper and Gosling share a lot of screen time will be disappointed. Though technically it could be described as a crime thriller, it's really a story about a robber, then a story about a cop, then a story about their kids. Once you get past how jarring the format can be, The Place Beyond the Pines is pretty remarkable. To find out what else I think of the movie, just read more.

How to Refresh (and Repeat) Your Spring Look, the Eva Mendes Way

Eva Mendes has jumped right into promoting her film The Place Beyond the Pines, and with it has come a trifecta of sexy-turned-sophisticated looks — all worn within the span of one day.

Eva Mendes has jumped right into promoting her film The Place Beyond the Pines, and with it has come a trifecta of sexy-turned-sophisticated looks — all worn within the span of one day. From point A (stopping by The Daily Show With Jon Stewart) to point C (attending a private screening at MoMA), Mendes supplied us with the kind of Spring outfit fodder that's simple in execution, but altogether cool in effect. While her penchant for retro bombshell glamour was evident in both dresses (they're vintage!) and her go-to Thierry Lasry sunglasses, she never lets one aesthetic get in the way of easy styling and a classic finish. Plus, we love that Mendes can be counted on to repeat outfit pieces in a way that feels refreshed (and reworked). We're taking a closer look at all three ensembles, and breaking down the basics below.

Low-Key and Ladylike: With Spring here, it's perfectly OK to start the process of wearing your white-dress best. We love that she opted for a longer iteration, with feminine ruffles acting as the more lighthearted daytime accent. If you're looking to cultivate a similar look, pair your own long white maxi dress (Victorian-inspired or otherwise) with ankle boots and your favorite pair of sunglasses. Her soft-pink coat is a sleek top layer, but we know not everyone is into the girlier pastel hues. Thus, try a neutral-toned iteration instead — this textured jacket by Topshop Unique ($390) will do the trick.

Formfitting but Polished: For a totally chic take on figure-enhancing workwear, pair a peach-colored cap-sleeved shift dress, similar to Mendes's, and style it with a coordinating blazer and nude pumps. Yes, it's really that simple.

Animal-Print Appeal: The worry (sometimes) with jumpsuits and all-over prints is that it can be a little overwhelming. But Mendes's take on both trends offers ample breathing room for both styles to coexist peacefully and stylishly. By adding a wide Soledad Twombly belt at the waist, she broke up the exotic head-to-toe Chloé leopard print with something classic. Not to mention, the belt added more curve to her shape instantly. To finish, her brown Prada boots (repeat alert!) and quilted black clutch provided the more subdued "layer" to her evening-geared look.

Eva Mendes Makes a Spring Stop on The Daily Show

Eva Mendes embraced the warmer NYC temperatures in a white dress on her way into The Daily Show With Jon Stewart yesterday.

Eva Mendes embraced the warmer NYC temperatures in a white dress on her way into The Daily Show With Jon Stewart yesterday. She made an outfit change into a short, pink embellished number for the interview. Eva promoted her latest movie, The Place Beyond the Pines, on the show and joked with Jon about the woes of her early acting career. When Jon admitted that he was cut from the film The First Wives Club as Goldie Hawn's boyfriend, Eva revealed that her voice was dubbed over in one of her early films because she didn't sound "sophisticated enough."

Eva's stop on The Daily Show is just her latest on a busy press tour for her new film, which gets a limited release in the US tomorrow. Last week, Eva made an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman to chat about the movie, and earlier this month she posed at an event for Vogue Eyewear.

Eva Mendes donned a sheer, leopard Dolce & Gabbana dress for an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman yesterday in NYC. Eva's promotional interview, which airs tonight, comes ahead of her latest project The Place Beyond the Pines's debut in the US. She stars opposite her real-life love interest, Ryan Gosling, as well as Bradley Cooper in the film, which opens in limited release on March 29.

Aside from her big-screen duties, Eva has also taken on a new role in the fashion world. She's working on her own clothing line for New York & Company, which is set to hit stores in the Fall. She is also the face of Vogue Eyewear, and wore a lace Valentino number to attend the launch of the brand's new campaign last week in LA.
