Last night at the BAFTA LA Britannia Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, some of our favorite celebrities proved there are many paths to a stunning red carpet look. Suki Waterhouse took a feminine approach in a long-sleeved gown in a soft shade of pink, with a hem that was just short enough to show off her coordinating heels. Isla Fisher showed off her arms in a sophisticated Burberry column dress in a pearly color, which she accented with a silver clutch. Meanwhile, Poppy Delevingne amped up the sex appeal in an off-the-shoulder Marios Schwab black gown with a subtly sheer hemline. Did one dress make a bigger — or better — statement on the red carpet?
Award season may not have officially started just yet, but on Saturday night dozens of A-listers gathered in LA to attend a glamorous, star-studded event at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Kate Hudson, Salma Hayek, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Drew Barrymore dropped by LACMA's annual gala, which celebrates art and film. Naturally, since the party has to do with art, actor-turned-director-turned-artist James Franco made an appearance, and he mingled with Kate and Catherine Keener inside the bash. Meanwhile, Leonardo stayed close to his Wolf of Wall Street director Martin Scorsese but did break away to chat with Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher, and Tom Hanks, whom he may be competing against in the best actor category this award season.
On Friday, Leo also dropped by LACMA to stand in for Martin at a screening of Rebel Without a Cause, which was restored by Martin's Film Foundation. Martin was apparently still in NYC, working on The Wolf of Wall Street, which hits theaters this month, but he made it out for the museum's party this weekend.
Halloween is three days away, but that didn't stop a range of celebrities from kicking off the festivities early! Kate Hudson threw her annual costume extravaganza with a major guest list that included Rachel Zoe, Isla Fisher, and Bradley Cooper. We're showing which costumes seem to be the year's most popular, with Paris Hilton — aka Miley Cyrus — leading the charge of celebs who dressed up like other stars! Robert Pattinson was a Brit among a sea of Aussies at tonight's Australians in Film gala in LA. A suited-up — and nearly scruff-free — Rob was on hand to present an honor to Blue Tongue Films. The production company is behind his upcoming movie The Rover, which was shot in Southern Australia.
Rob had a front-row table at the award ceremony, where he dined on kohlrabi and beet salad by his rep's side and laughed along with the rest of the crowd — including Isla Fisher, Hawaii Five-0's Alex O'Loughlin, and several prominent Australian filmmakers — during the raucous festivities. Tonight was the second public appearance Rob has made this week; on Tuesday, he attended a screening of his friend Nicholas Jarecki's latest directorial project, Seduced and Abandoned.
Isla Fisher presented Baz Luhrman with one of two Orry-Kelly International awards tonight. The Great Gatsby director couldn't be there to accept in person, so she announced that she'd take home his boomerang statuette, teasing: "My first award!" Isla also couldn't resist comparing the title of the honor to the R&B singer with a very similar name: R. Kelly. When Rob presented the second of the statuettes to Blue Tongue shortly after Isla, he said he was chagrined she'd already made the first R. Kelly-related crack. Then, he jokingly referred to the honor as "the golden shower award," earning the evening's biggest roar of laughter from the crowd. In typical self-deprecating form, Rob also wondered out loud if he should ditch his "insanely" generic written speech, but ultimately decided against it after the crowd urged him to keep reading.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's POPSUGAR Live! for video from last night's ceremony and red carpet — and to hear why some of the Australian actors in attendance told us Rob deserved to be an honorary Aussie for the night.
Isla Fisher and Kirsten Dunst had a casual girls' day in West Hollywood yesterday. The pair, who costarred together in 2012's Bachelorette, have been friends since they first met at the Oscars in 2007, but if you hear Kirsten tell it, the meeting was a bit awkward. While recounting their friendship in Gotham magazine earlier this year, Kirsten revealed that when she first met Isla and her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen, she didn't recognize the British comedian and mistook him for a waiter. Kirsten apparently asked Sacha to get her some Champagne, which he dutifully fetched. Isla told Kirsten in the magazine, "He thought you knew who he was and were making a joke. He thought you had a great sense of humor!"
Yesterday, after spending the day together, it was Isla's turn to giggle about her forgetfulness. When Kirsten dropped Isla off near her car, the actress bolted out of the car and waved goodbye, only to realize that she had forgotten her purse in her pal's vehicle. After flagging down Kirsten to retrieve it, the two stars shared a laugh before parting ways.
Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher hit the water off the coast of Italy with their daughters, Olive and Elula. Isla put her fit frame on display in a blue one-piece swimsuit as Sacha went shirtless while relaxing on top of a yacht with his family. At one point, Sacha and Isla took a dip in the water while their daughters stayed on their luxury boat.
The family jetted off to Europe so Sacha could attend the 2013 Giffoni Film Festival in Giffoni Valle Piana, Italy, over the weekend. The Italian trip came after Isla and Sacha wrapped up their work obligations in America. Isla finished work on Life of Crime, her new film with Jennifer Aniston and John Hawkes, back in the Spring while Sacha completed work on Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues with Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd. Aside from the Anchorman sequel, Sacha isn't working on any other upcoming projects at the moment as it was announced earlier this month that he had backed down from playing Queen front man Freddie Mercury in an upcoming biopic.
Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp joined producer Jerry Bruckheimer as he was awarded with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday. The stars teamed up to pay tribute to Jerry, whom they've both worked with on numerous films — Tom starred in Top Gun and Days of Thunder, while Johnny's Bruckheimer projects include the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy and the upcoming Disney flick The Lone Ranger. Also on hand for the fun were Martin Lawrence, Jon Voight, and Isla Fisher, who worked with Jerry on 2009's Confessions of a Shopaholic.
Both Johnny and Jerry have been keeping busy promoting The Lone Ranger ahead of its July 3 release. They hit the red carpet for the film's premiere at the California Adventure Park in Anaheim, CA, over the weekend alongside Armie Hammer and stars like Emma Roberts and Julianne Hough. Tom, whose sci-fi action movie All You Need Is Kill is in postproduction, has also been sticking close to the West Coast — he recently went shirtless to celebrate Father's Day with his son, Connor, on the beach in Malibu.
Isla Fisher popped up in London looking positively lovely in Lover. The actress tucked a white lace top — with a demure high neck and romantic cap sleeves — into a beige pleated miniskirt, then finished with a pair of nude patent peep-toes. A pop of red lipstick amped things up, while a few gold rings added subtle shine. Now that we're in the thick of wedding season, we love the idea of mimicking Isla's latest London look for, say, a bridal shower or an engagement photo shoot! And if you don't particularly love her color scheme, you can totally swap the neutral skirt for something colorful. Shop similar pieces below to nail the look.
Courteney Cox's 49th birthday celebrations in LA over the weekend were a star-studded affair. She was joined by her famous pals, Isla Fisher, Busy Philipps, Laura Dern, and Jennifer Meyer, who is Tobey Maguire's wife, for festivities at Giorgio Baldi restaurant. Courteney took to her Twitter account to document the fun surrounding the special occasion, which would not be complete without her daughter, Coco Arquette. She shared a photo of herself and her daughter during the party writing, "Every birthday is perfect with my favorite girl." Courteney also shared a group shot of pregnant Busy, Isla, Lauren, and Jennifer with the caption, "Dancin with my girls." Busy sent her wishes on Twitter too writing, "Happy Birthday to Courteney Cox! One of the greatest ladies I know!"
