Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld have some differing opinions about the white sneaker fashion choices he made in his Seinfeld times and still sticks with to this day. The duo joked about his new hip-hop friends and why their white sneakers are part of a different look when they stopped to chat on the red carpet at Monday's Met Gala in NYC. Check out the interview, and don't miss all of our Met Gala coverage. Jessica Chastain Supports Jake Gyllenhaal's Off-Broadway Debut
Jake Gyllenhaal took the stage in NYC last night for the opening performance of his off-Broadway play, If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet. This isn't Jake's first attempt at theater — he made his stage debut in the 2002 London production of This Is Our Youth.
Jake's been busy in recent days, balancing two opening projects. He sat down with press at TIFF earlier this month to chat up his police drama, End of Watch, which is in theaters today. Jake has a clean-shaven face — and head — in the film. Lately, though, Jake's sporting a self-described "grizzly" look for his stage role. Jessica Chastain and Michael Peña were among the stars on hand last night to support Jake and the rest of the cast. Early reviews have been less than stellar for the show as a whole, but Jake's had some applause for his performance.
Real Parent Gift Guide: All These Celebrities Want For the Holidays Is . . .
It takes a really good cause to get celebrity moms and dads to leave the comfort of their homes on a weekday night in the middle of the holiday season. Baby Buggy — the charity founded by Jessica Seinfeld that distributes new and gently used baby products to New York City families in need — is one such cause. The organization has given away more than 50 million baby products since it started, and for its 10th anniversary, Jessica organized a night of comedy featuring none other than her husband, Jerry Seinfeld, as well as Jon Stewart and Colin Quinn. The comedic lineup drew a crowd of celeb supporters including Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Bridget Moynahan, Chrissy and Nigel Barker, Ali Wentworth and George Stephanopoulos, Rosie Pope, Kyle MacLachlan and Desiree Gruber, and Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness. I took my place on the red carpet and spoke to the stars as they entered the event, asking them about their own wish lists for the holiday season. See what they had to say!
Jessica Alba, Naomi Watts, and Oprah Toast Ralph Lauren's Work
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren were among the famous guests who turned out last night for "An Evening With Ralph Lauren," which was hosted by Oprah Winfrey at NYC's Lincoln Center. Other ladies who love Ralph's designs, like Naomi Watts, Uma Thurman, and Kerry Washington, hit the blue carpet solo. Jerry Seinfeld and his wife Jessica posed as a pair. Ralph had the support of his family at the event, which was a benefit for the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and Lincoln Center, including sons Andrew and David, daughter Dylan, and wife Ricky. David, who married Lauren Bush just over a month ago, proudly sported his new ring as he and his wife mingled and said hi to Naomi.
Ralph and Oprah sat on stage to talk about the designer's lengthy career, and what continues to inspire him. Naomi Watts shared her thoughts on Ralph's body of work as well. She said, "He's been famous for so long. I grew up following him. Ralph Lauren is a great American icon, and he's here along with another great American icon. It's my pleasure to be here."
Gwyneth Paltrow Toasts Baby Buggy With Her Mom, the Seinfelds, and Her Designer Friends
Gwyneth Paltrow wore a tight, strapless number for Baby Buggy's Summer Dinner on Saturday evening in East Hampton. She was surrounded by friends and family for the bash, like her mom Blythe Danner as well as Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld. Baby Buggy, a charity that equips less-fortunate families with the gear and clothes needed to raise a child, was established by Jessica back in 2001, and Gwyneth has been a longtime supporter. The meal was sponsored by designer Reed Krakoff, who was seen chatting with a fresh-from-NYC Rachel Zoe. Rachel was decked out in an outfit from Reed's namesake collection. While in the Big Apple, Rachel Zoe shared her beauty secrets with us at an event for Exude lipsticks. Reed Krakoff is also the president of Coach, which had another connection to the dinner — Gwyneth Paltrow's new Coach ads, which are being published in foreign countries, came out earlier this month.
Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Beyoncé Knowles, and Countless More Bid Farewell to Oprah With Music, Comedy, and Tears
A whole range of celebrity guests turned out for the Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular in Chicago yesterday. It was a huge event, at the city's United Center, organized to tape the second- and third-to-last episodes of Oprah's long-running TV show that will air on May 23 and 24. The guest list ranged from performers like Alicia Keys and Beyoncé Knowles, singing her new single "Run the World (Girls)."Tom Hanks played host for the first of two hours of taping, and he introduced the show by saying, "Now Oprah, I know you don't like surprises. Let me see if I can put you at ease. There was an English playwright who said there's no surprise more magical than the surprise of being loved, and that is what tonight is all about." The second 60-minute segment was emceed by Will Smith, on a break from shooting Men in Black 3, and Jada Pinkett Smith. Oprah's 12-time guest Tom Cruise stepped onto the stage to the theme-tune from Mission Impossible, saying, "You always had the power [to change lives], and that is the lesson you brought."
Even Maria Shriver turned out despite the scandal brewing over her estranged husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the revelation he fathered a child outside their marriage 10 years ago. Maria made a heartfelt speech to Oprah, thanking her for the gifts of truth and wisdom. There were also 13,000 fans in the audience to see the proceedings — one guy apparently even proposed to his girlfriend before the festivities began! There were plenty of surprises in store, including a comedy set from Jerry Seinfeld. He had the crowd cracking up with quips like, "To be here at the United Center and not be at a Bulls Game!? This is like a dream a disoriented husband would tell a shrink: I was at a Bulls game packed with fans and somehow it all changed to the Oprah show." The shocks kept coming with tributes from Dakota Fanning, Halle Berry, Josh Groban, Rosie O'Donnell, Jamie Foxx, Usher, and a cameo from Oprah's long-term boyfriend Stedman Graham! Stedman spoke sweetly of his lady love, commenting, " I love you for making a difference in my life." All of the affection eventually got to Oprah, who broke down in tears. She wrapped things up by saying, "Thank you for taking me to a place that is beyond joyous — It feels like the rapture."
Gwyneth Gets Friends Like Chris, Jay, Mario, and Jerry Together to Launch Her Cookbook
Gwyneth Paltrow gathered her A-List pals together in NYC last night for a party in honor of her new cookbook My Father's Daughter. Her husband, Chris Martin, made a hasty exit from the bash while other friends like Jay-Z, Michael Stipe, Jerry Seinfeld, Martha Stewart, Mario Batali, and her mom, Blythe Danner, seemed happy to smile for the assembled photographers. The book hits shelves nationwide tomorrow, though Gwyneth started promoting it as long ago as last year with in a memorable Vogue article. She's not the only one in her social circle with a new project to celebrate. Jay-Z's new website, Life + Times, recently launched, and Gwyneth granted him an interview to help kick things off. He asked about Gwyneth's newfound love of singing, and she said, "I kind of always sang. My mother has a great voice and was always singing jazz around the house, and I think she passed on her musicality to my brother and myself. I sang in an a capella singing group, and I always thought that somewhere down the line I would dust off my pipes and use them, but I didn’t know I would be so old when it happened." Jay returned the favor by speaking to Gwyneth's GOOP newsletter about his assorted ventures. She asked why he's "so f-ing cool," and Jay replied, "I'm around great women, starting with my mom. Women keep men cool. The hotter the chick, the cooler the guy. . . that sounds like a really bad rap line!"

The Fashion Week fun kept coming yesterday in NYC, with Vanessa Hudgens continuing her front-row occupation by attending the Diesel Black Gold presentation alongside Chace Crawford. Kirsten Dunst and Sofia Coppola joined forces with Kanye West himself to see the latest Rodarte creations, as Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld supported her pal Narciso Rodriguez. Rachel Roy, meanwhile, had Olivia and Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter turn out to see her knit-heavy collection. Michael Kors welcomed pals Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas to his show today, along with Emma Roberts, Bette Midler, Debra Messing, and Anjelica Huston. Mary-Kate and Ashley were back out on the town after their recent stir-causing appearance at WWD's 100th anniversary party. Gwyneth Sings a Country Tune, and Her Friend Jessica's Praises
Gwyneth Paltrow joined Jerry Seinfeld yesterday at his wife Jessica's Baby Buggy charity event at the Balenciaga shop in East Hampton. The actress is a regular at Jessica's philanthropic parties — she wore her Summer whites for the bash in 2008. Gwyneth is in the midst of a vacation with her children, Apple and Moses, and she broke out her bikini for a recent afternoon at the beach. She'll need all the rest she can get before heading out to promote her movie Country Strong ahead of its opening later this year. Gwyneth stars as a singer in the film, and we just got a listen to one of her songs.
