Casting Suggestions For How to Be Single

News that Drew Barrymore has signed on to direct the movie adaptation of How to Be Single didn't just excite me because it sounds like it could be a cute romantic comedy; I'm more invested because I'm currently reading the book by Liz Tuccillo. The story is about five single friends in their late 30s living in New York City and each dealing with the challenges of her own love life. Though casting hasn't begun, I have some actors in mind to play the female five-some and their love interests, assuming that Barrymore will pluck her cast from her personal group of friends and costars.

Colbie Reviews Luke Wilson and Giovanni Ribisi's Middle Men

I had gone to the theater to see Salt, but the show was already sold out. I bought tickets for Middle Men, but I must admit I thought it was the comedy The Other Guys (men, guys nearly the same, right? ). Well Middle Men wasn't a fabulous comedy, but it was a great loosely-based true story about the beginning of the Internet. Way back when in 1995, Wayne Beering and Buck Dolby both are going nowhere, but are both rather smart and come up with a rough business plan and code for collecting credit cards over the Internet to distribute porn. Jack Harris comes on board to help these guys get better organized, so they can keep collecting their $9.99 subscriptions. Apparently the Russian mob were some of the first venture capitalists to invest, and needless to say, it gets ugly! The Internet has come a long way since 1995, but apparently most money transactions use the same code these two developed, who knew! While it might not require the big screen, it is a great movie and well worth renting once it comes out.

Red Carpet

ESPYs Mix Bikini Babes, Sports, Starlets, SNL, and Efron in LA!

The sun was shining bright on the ESPY Awards yesterday afternoon as sports stars and actors alike hit the red carpet outside the Nokia Theater in LA. As usual, there were a good number of sexy ladies who mingled with the athletes, like Ashley Greene, who looked hot in red as she headed in to present with Tracy Morgan. Marisa Miller, who is cleaning up in the bikini bracket so far, stuck with a classic LBD on another break from her epic surfing adventure. Danica Patrick posed with Landon Donovan while Zac Efron sported dark sunglasses. He's out to promote Charlie St. Cloud, out July 30, in which his character is a baseball lover himself.

Seth Meyers played host for the evening, and during his opening monologue he rattled off a few jokes at the expense of Brett Favre and Tiger Woods, to name a few. Andy Samberg showed up as Paul the World Cup-predicting octopus, and Dinner for Schmucks stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd poked fun at LeBron James's "The Decision" special. Zac got to present alongside Mad Men actress January Jones, and her onscreen ex Jon Hamm was lucky enough to pose with Brooklyn Decker backstage. Mark Wahlberg made a wisecrack about Emmanuelle Chriqui's Entourage this season, all in good spirits. It was another great night for honoring the year's athletic highlights with highlights and of course emotional montages — check out all the winners here.

Luke Wilson Parties Like It's 1995 in the Middle Men Trailer

Luke Wilson has hit a bit of snag in his career since his glory days (I'm talking Royal Tenenbaums and Old School), so I didn't expect much from the trailer for his new movie, Middle Men.

Luke Wilson has hit a bit of snag in his career since his glory days (I'm talking Royal Tenenbaums and Old School), so I didn't expect much from the trailer for his new movie, Middle Men. Wilson stars as Jack Harris, a businessman in 1995 who hits the jackpot when he teams up with Wayne (Giovanni Ribisi) and Buck (Gabriel Macht) to become the first entrepreneurs of Internet porn.

The trailer has everything you'd expect to go along with the adult entertainment biz — scantily clad ladies, fistfights, and lots of cash to spend. Though I'm a bit skeptical about the "inspired by a true story" premise, I'm digging the supporting players here (I've had a soft spot for Macht since his Sex and the City days, and even Kelsey Grammer makes an appearance). As for whether or not it will boost Wilson's career — it's gotta be better than My Super Ex-Girlfriend, right?

Check out the preview and tell me what you think after the jump.

Luke Wilson Finds Enlightenment on the Small Screen

If you're anything like me, you cringe a little bit every time Luke Wilson pops up in one of those AT&T commercials.

If you're anything like me, you cringe a little bit every time Luke Wilson pops up in one of those AT&T commercials. I loved him back in the day, but he hasn't done much for me lately — which is why I'm hopeful about his newest project. Wilson is set so star opposite Laura Dern in the upcoming HBO comedy Enlightened.

Wilson will play the druggie ex-husband to Dern's spiritually awakened Amy. As a cool extra bonus, Dern's real-life mom Diane Ladd has also signed on to play Amy's mom on the show.

With HBO's biggest comedies growing old (Entourage, I'm looking at you), I'd be happy to see some fresh meat as mainstays in my Sunday night lineup. I'm also interested to see how Wilson fares in his first major TV role (other than Casey Kelso on That '70s Show, of course). Are you wiling to give Luke Wilson another shot, or has he passed his prime?

The Wilsons and Woody Viva Italia

Owen Wilson was joined by his brothers Andrew and Luke in Italy over the weekend. The boys took a boat ride and checked out a few sights on the shore. After a long day of playing tourist, Woody Harrelson met up with the guys for dinner. Italy may be full of romantic hot spots for vacation loving couples, but it looks fun for a boys' bonding adventure too.

Cameron, Leo, and Seal Show Their Lakers Love

There were a lot of smiling celebrities at the Staples Center last night as the Lakers defeated the Rockets in their second game of the Western conference semifinals.

There were a lot of smiling celebrities at the Staples Center last night as the Lakers defeated the Rockets in their second game of the Western conference semifinals. Cameron Diaz, who is rumored to have split with boyfriend Paul Sculfor, sat with Hollywood bigwigs Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg and even caught the ball from her courtside seat. Loyal Lakers fan Leonardo DiCaprio was laughing the whole game while Seal was all dressed up for the occasion. Jordin Sparks played photographer from the audience, though it's hard to know what would be more fun to take pictures of — the players or the star-studded front row.

Henry Poole Is Here
What a difference a year makes! Last Winter I was reporting live from Sundance that I really enjoyed this little movie starring Luke Wilson. I know many people didn't get the chance to check it out in theaters, which makes it a great rental.

Wilson plays Henry Poole, a grouchy man who buys an ordinary house in Southern California. Soon after, his very friendly neighbor Esperanza (Adriana Barazza) notices a stain on the outside of Henry's house that she thinks is the face of Jesus. She calls in a priest (George Lopez) and starts telling everyone in town about "the miracle" at Henry's house, much to Henry's annoyance. This movie features great performances and a quirky look at the old discussion of faith vs. reason.

Special features include audio commentary with director Mark Pellington and writer Albert Torres, a featurette titled "The Making of Henry Poole Is Here," and the Henry Poole Is Here music video directed by Mark Pellington and featuring the MySpace.com theme song contest winner Ron Irizarry.
