Serena Williams Nike Training Club

This is kind of awkward: Even though I'm an editor at SELF, I get self-conscious in group classes and thus don't want to attend even though I desperately want to reap the benefits. Basically my life changed in 2011 when Nike relaunched their Nike Training Club app and I was able to do all these cool strengthening, lengthening and toning moves from the comfort of my (albeit cramped) living room — or anywhere else in the world. And someone else agrees with me. Namely this really famous, epic tennis star.

SELF has already sung Nike Training Club's praises before; we've even dubbed it a "personal trainer in your pocket." Well we've fallen all over in love again, and we're about to break some big news to you guys: Serena Williams has JUST launched her Core Power workout on NTC that's available for download and we have the first look — not to mention a few wise words from Serena herself.

Designed to work the core and abdominal muscles, Serena showed us that Core Power uses a stability ball and resistance bands to increase overall core strength, which in turn helps to create a lean, strong body. And when I spoke to Serena about creating Core Power for Nike Training Club, she told me that "the drills featured in the Core Power workout are based on key exercises I do regularly to stay strong. Everything I do on court begins with strength from the core, so it's the perfect foundation for my training as a tennis player." Core Power is also great when tacked on to a great cardio workout — even a run — and also helps Serena target specific muscle groups she feels need extra work. (Although, look at her. Look at her abs. Watch her play! What needs extra work?) Serena let us peek behind the scenes at the filming of her Core Power routine and officially gives you her new Nike Training Club workout from start to finish. Warning: Your abs will be feelin' it later!

Read on for the workout.

Celebrity Women Get Real About Body Image Issues

She may have won two Golden Globes last weekend for her HBO series, Girls, but lately the most-talked about topic in regards to writer, filmmaker, and actress Lena Dunham has been her weight, not her talent.

She may have won two Golden Globes last weekend for her HBO series, Girls, but lately the most-talked about topic in regards to writer, filmmaker, and actress Lena Dunham has been her weight, not her talent. Radio host Howard Stern is in hot water for calling Lena a "little fat chick." And while Lena told David Letterman last week that the comments "put me in the best mood," the 26-year-old has been honest that she's had a love-hate relationship with her body, despite displaying it so freely on her show. She told New York Magazine:

"It's a very specific body. Even great reviews will be like: chubby, portly, overweight. . . . Sometimes I'm like, 'Ugh, how did I make myself the guinea pig for this?' But on the other hand, hating my body has not been my cross to bear in this life. Which I feel very lucky about."

Several famous women have opened up about their struggles with body image and eating disorders. Katie Couric revealed on her talk show that she struggled with bulimia when interviewing another famous lady who's dealt with eating disorders, Demi Lovato. And Lady Gaga, who has faced criticism about her weight gain, launched a movement called A Body Revolution to encourage body acceptance. She said she started it to "inspire bravery," adding, "Be brave and celebrate with us your 'perceived flaws,' as society tells us. May we make our flaws famous, and thus redefine the heinous."

Many celebrity women have courageously talked about what they don't like about their bodies, their past eating disorder issues, and how they've overcome a negative body image. Let's be inspired to accept our bodies just how they are with these encouraging words now!

Serena Wins Golden Slam — See Her Historic Olympic Journey!

After besting Russia's Maria Sharapova in the women's singles final match, Serena Williams not only won the gold, but also made history.

After besting Russia's Maria Sharapova in the women's singles final match, Serena Williams not only won the gold, but also made history. Serena became the first tennis player since Steffi Graf in 1988 to complete a career Golden Slam — winning all major titles of the Grand Slam in addition to a gold at the Olympic Games. Although Serena already has two gold medals in doubles (with sister, Venus Williams), this is the first time the 30-year-old has achieved a singles gold.

Of her win and her comparison to tennis great Steffi Graff, Serena said, "Growing up watching her, I always liked her. Having a chance to be mentioned in the same name — I always thought, OK, one person I'll never be mentioned in the same name is Steffi Graf. She's done everything." Congrats are in order for Serena. Take a look back at how the tennis superstar made her way to the top of the podium and into the history books!

The Ladies of Tennis Prove Their Off-Court Style — Who's Most Fab?

With Wimbledon kicking off next Monday, tennis's power set stepped out last night for a little off-court fun at a pre-Wimbledon party in London.

With Wimbledon kicking off next Monday, tennis's power set stepped out last night for a little off-court fun at a pre-Wimbledon party in London. The fete brought out the likes of world champion Maria Sharapova and the Grand Slam masters Venus and Serena Williams. And while we're used to seeing these ladies in sportier attire, they certainly pulled out all the stops on their cocktail party ensembles. Venus chose a summery Amanda Wakeley LWD that draped in all the right places, Danish stunner Caroline Wozniacki showed off her form in a cool Stella McCartney LBD, Maria opted for a supergirlie high-low profile in embellished Antonio Berardi and ruby-red Roger Vivier heels, Serena went for short and sweet in a purple taffeta Burberry number, and Serbian beauty Ana Ivanovic looked ultrafeminine in a feather-accented Matthew Williamson dress. No matter how fierce these women can get on the court, they're just as skilled in the after-hours style department. Now it's match point — you decide who deserves the Most Fab title below.

Heidi Klum arrived at the Hollywood Palladium in LA last night decked out in an armful of bangles from her Wildlife collection and a graphic Versace dress. She was one of the stars on hand for Nickelodeon's TeenNick HALO Awards. Nick Cannon stepped out solo to host the event while his lovely wife, Mariah Carey, and "dem babies," twins Moroccan and Monroe Cannon, cheered him on via Twitter. True Blood heartthrob Stephen Moyer also came out to support the "Helping and Leading Others" initiative, which recognizes teens who are making a difference in their communities.

Heidi's week of big events is just getting started. She's hosting two Halloween parties this weekend, one in Las Vegas and the other in NYC. In years past, she's kept her intricate outfits top secret. However, yesterday Heidi strayed from tradition and gave fans a sneak peek of her elaborate monkey and skeleton costumes.
