The Not-So-Basic Black Dress Strikes Again (and Again) at the SAGs

It's official: we've spotted the not-so-basic black dress trend at not one, not two, but three award shows so far.

It's official: we've spotted the not-so-basic black dress trend at not one, not two, but three award shows so far. We first noticed it at the Critics' Choice Awards, then saw it crop up again at the Golden Globes, and now Claire Danes, Anne Hathaway, and Michelle Dockery (just to name a few) are opting for reinvented and reimagined black gowns at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. We're talking about dresses with sexy sheer cutouts, high-shine embellishments, and strategically placed ruffles. If there's one thing we can take away, it's that 2013 is the year we may take a second look at our go-to black dress in the back of our closets — it's time for an update.

Tina and Amy as Golden Globes Hostesses — Magical or Mediocre?

Move over, Billy Crystal, the world may have a new favorite host — or hosting duo, that is.

Move over, Billy Crystal, the world may have a new favorite host — or hosting duo, that is. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler emceed the Golden Globes as a pair last night, and they were pretty amazing. They handled celebrity zingers that were neither too tame nor too harsh, weren't afraid to put on goofy disguises, and did it all while looking absolutely stunning. My only complaint is that we didn't see enough of the hosts. How did you feel about the duo; did you enjoy the Poehler and Fey repartee, or were you less than impressed with the duo?

The Best Highlights From the 2013 Golden Globes!

The 2013 Golden Globes were full of excitement and emotion in LA on Sunday night.

The 2013 Golden Globes were full of excitement and emotion in LA on Sunday night. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler kept the evening light with their jokes and antics, like Amy nuzzling with George Clooney in the audience and the two of them likening Kathryn Bigelow's short-lived marriage to James Cameron to "torture." Other stars also got some big laughs as well, including presenter Aziz Ansari, who pretended to be stoned from Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery's weed cookies. Sacha Baron Cohen gave a mini roast of his Les Misérables costars, when he joked about Anne Hathaway's infamous upskirt incident and sarcastically remarked that Russell Crowe's singing lessons in preparation for the film was "money well spent." Jodie Foster came out while accepting her Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, moving many attendees to tears.

The show was also full of some big, surprising wins. Ben Affleck nabbed best director for Argo after getting shut out of the category for the Oscar nominations on Thursday, and Argo also won best drama motion picture over Lincoln. Hugh Jackman picked up the best actor in a comedy or musical honor, beating out favorite Bradley Cooper. Most winners broke down into happy tears while accepting their awards, including Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, and Lena Dunham. Lena got particularly emotional while admitting that she had looked up to her fellow best actress nominees when she was younger and that they helped her get through awkward moments. Always quick to add a joke, nominees Tina and Amy joked that they were happy they could get the young Lena "through middle school."
