If you had told me 10 years ago that false lashes would be making a huge comeback in 2016, I probably would have laughed at you. The fluttery little strips were too dramatic for the average woman's everyday life (and seemingly impossible to apply). But today, it's clear that the lash landscape has evolved immensely over the past decade. There are more kinds of falsies than ever before, and because of influencers on YouTube and Instagram, women have learned how to apply them and been inspired to wear them regularly.

One of the most recent developments for ease of application was the launch of Flirt Flashes Lash Applicator. This genius tool closely resembles the Wite-Out correction tape you used on your notes back in high school: as you wind up the roll inside, it dispenses a row of three individual lash buds. Each row is expelled base side out, so you can dip it into glue, then apply it directly to your lid instead of fussing with tweezers or other unwieldy tools.

For holiday 2016, the Flirt team has exclusively revealed to POPSUGAR that it's producing Party Flashes ($28, available Dec. 1 only on FlirtCosmetics.com), a limited-edition take on the brand's lash applicator. It works in the exact same way as the original device but instead dispenses red and green buds (seen above). This adds a flirty bit of Christmas color to your wink. I'm basically seeing them as ornaments for my eyes.

Whether you're a lash pro looking for a few extra tips or are hoping to kick your falsies game into high gear, holiday parties — and these funky lash buds — are the perfect excuse to strengthen your skills. I consulted with celebrity makeup artist Priscilla Ono (who counts Flirt ambassador Amber Rose as one her clients!) on the best ways to rock red and green lashes, application tricks, and clever ways to manage pesky adhesive.

POPSUGAR: These lashes are so fun and unusual. How would you recommend a girl apply these for a more subdued look?

Priscilla Ono: I think that these are definitely for a statement lash. Fun and festive, great for holiday parties. I would go all the way or go home on these! But you could also just put a couple on the outer corners for a look that still gives some holiday cheer without making too much of a statement.

PS: How would you recommend she apply them for a more festive look?

PO: I love a dense, feminine lash. I would apply black false lashes and layer these on top, so when you blink, bam! So cute!

PS: What other makeup would you pair these with?

PO: I would definitely do a red lip and a more natural eye to make the lashes pop! [Priscilla has shared on Instagram that she is a huge fan of Girlactik Matte Lip Paint in Iconic ($23).]

PS: What's one thing every woman should know before she applies falsies?

PO: I like applying glue on a piece of lint-free paper (like a paper towel) and letting it dry for a few minutes so it gets tacky. Then I dip the lashes into it so they stick to the eye much faster. You can apply individual lashes in half the time because you don't have to wait for glue to dry!

PS: If you've accidentally glued your false lashes to your real ones, how can you remove them without harming your natural lashes?

PO: Just apply a little bit of coconut oil and gently rub.

PS: How do you apply glue to a lifting strip without removing it entirely?

PO: I apply some glue on the back of my skinniest brush (usually it's an eyeliner brush) and just add where it's lifting and press until dry.

PS: How can you remove glue from your eyelids without taking off all your makeup?

PO: If you don't have shadow on, coconut oil on a cotton swab is like a magic eraser!

PS: Should you curl before or after applying the falsies? Why or why not?

PO: After. Sometimes if the lashes are too curled, they push off the falsies and cause them to lift.

PS: I've heard it's best to apply false lashes using a handheld mirror looking down at it (instead of looking straight across into a vanity mirror). Is this true?

PO: Yes, because the strip of the lash should not be seen laying flat on the lid. It should come from above and be hidden tucked between the natural lash and the end of the eye.

PS: How is Amber Rose most likely to use these?

PO: Over a nice dense, full lash for all her holiday parties!
