My skin has been leaning more toward the dry side lately, and I had to make the switch to moisturizers that are a little more hydrating. My water-based gel ones weren't cutting it, and the richer options I have were a little too heavy for my needs. I've been a fan of Aavrani's Ayurvedic-inspired skin-care line for quite some time now, and its Moisturizing Hydra-Cream ($38) piqued my interest. The brand's Healing Rose Clay Mask is my go-to for treating inflamed and sensitive breakouts; the mask visibly draws out impurities, diminishing whiteheads and clearing up active acne like a pimple patch. The moisturizer has an oil-free formula with long-lasting hydration benefits, and after using it for a few months, this is something I could use all year round.

What I Like About the Aavrani Moisturizing Hydra-Cream:

I love emollient oil-based moisturizers that deeply condition the skin as much as I love lightweight water-based moisturizers that alleviate skin-tight dryness. Somehow, the Aavrani Moisturizing Hydra-Cream is the best of both worlds. This moisturizer provides my skin with a burst of hydration, but its creamy formula gives it a conditioned feel. I was pretty surprised when I found out it's oil-free. It is lightweight and sinks into my skin within minutes. My complexion looks healthy and radiant with a plumped appearance and a natural, nourishing glow. It's formulated with hyaluronic acid and squalane to infuse the skin with layers of hydration and help prevent moisture loss. It also contains Ayurvedic ingredients such as lychee fruit, which is rich in antioxidants, and tamarind seed, which provides that smooth and conditioned texture to your skin.

On days when I need to care for my skin's moisture barrier, I like to double up on this moisturizer and add a second layer for extra conditioning. It's been my go-to for my retinol sandwich as well! I even use this as an eye cream, especially when the area is extra dry during the colder months. If your lips are constantly dry as mine are, I like using the Moisturizing Hydra-Cream on my lips as a lip balm and topping it off with an emollient balm. This moisturizer also serves as a fantastic base or primer since it infuses your skin with plump hydration and provides a smooth canvas.

What's Worth Noting About the Aavrani Moisturizing Hydra-Cream:

You can use the Aavrani Moisturizing Hydra-Cream both in your morning skin-care routine and nighttime routine. All you need is around two pumps for all the hydration benefits. Like most moisturizers, you should be applying this on cleansed skin or after your essences, toners, or serums. It should go onto your skin before your sunscreen as well. When I use an oil-based serum or top off my skin-care routine with a facial oil, I like to wait a few minutes between applying the oil-based product and the moisturizer. This helps prevent pilling and gives each product time to sink into the skin.

Who the Aavrani Moisturizing Hydra-Cream Is Best For:

The Aavrani Moisturizing Hydra-Cream is great for all skin types. It deeply conditions with hydration that sinks into the skin, making it ideal for skin types that lean dry. However, its oil-free formulation and lightweight feel are great for those with oily or combination skin types. If you get drier in the colder months as I do, I recommend stocking up on this to give your skin long-lasting hydration without feeling heavy or overly emollient.
