You Can Now Buy Your Favorite Beauty Products at Barnes & Noble

We love shopping in brick-and-mortar bookstores. Though it's hard to deny the lazy-girl appeal of Amazon Prime, we adore actually picking up a novel, poring over the back cover, and flipping through its pages in real life. Now Barnes & Noble is giving makeup-adoring readers a new reason to obsess over bookstores: The Glossary.

The Glossary is a beauty pop-up shop that exists within certain Barnes & Noble College bookstores. According to a press release, it features high-end brands, including Smashbox and Lipstick Queen, as well as affordable favorites like Covergirl and Maybelline. And while it's frowned upon to test products in drugstores, The Glossary is designed for customers to experiment with its items. In fact, the store-within-a-store was deeply inspired by Sephora.

Racked reported that Barnes & Noble College reached out to the beauty empire to partner with it — similar to a Sephora inside JCPenney — but ended up creating its own concept. The bookseller did borrow a few ideas from Sephora, however. There are tester products, makeup removers, and mascara wands so visitors can play as they shop.

So far, there are only a handful of locations. Barnes & Nobles at Emory University, Southern Methodist University, Tulane University, and the College of William & Mary are all lucky enough to host The Glossary, and there are plans for a new store on the campus of the University of California at Riverside. But don't expect this pop-up at college bookstores in highly urban areas. Barnes & Noble College focused on destinations that aren't too close to malls, meaning The Glossary will function as a beauty oasis.

That said, we hope that The Glossary expands to standard Barnes & Noble stores. We may no longer be in college, but we're voracious readers and beauty fanatics. To shop both categories simultaneously would be our ideal way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
