What to Buy at Walgreens This Summer, According to a Beauty Editor

I'm what you'd call a seasonal shopper. It's not that I restrict myself from making random purchases here and there (trust me, I do it more than I'd care to admit), but there's just something about that *official* change in seasons that feels like an excuse to overhaul everything in my life — my wardrobe, the foods I stock in my fridge, and my beauty routine included. And with Summer weather in the New York City air, I'm ready for a little makeup and skincare refresh.

Although I love a luxe product as much as the next girl, if there's one thing I know as a beauty editor, it's that mixing high and low is the key to a well-rounded routine. Ahead, I'm sharing which products are currently in my Walgreens shopping cart.

Everyone's routine can benefit from micellar water, and if you're debating which one to pick up, look no further than Bioderma. This European cult-favorite ($15) recently went stateside, and I couldn't be happier. It's soothing, removes any kind of makeup, and doesn't strip your skin; trust me, the hype is real.

There's a time and a place to make your cheekbones shine bright like a diamond — and for me, it's strictly reserved for special occasions or nights out. That's why I'm a big fan of cream-based highlighters for everyday, like the Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix Highlighter ($15). It's buildable, can be applied without a mirror, and gives just the right amount of sheen for a daytime glow.

My skin has been unusually dry lately, and by the looks of it, that dryness is following me into the warmer months. To give my skin an extra boost of hydration (and essential sun protection), I've been keeping an SPF-infused moisturizing water gel ($23) front and center on my vanity. That way, it's easy to apply at the beginning of my makeup routine and before bed.

In my opinion, CoverGirl will always have the best "under $15" mascaras, and its newest formula only reinforces that belief. Exhibitionist ($10) is equal parts volumizing and lengthening, which is exactly what I look for in a formula. Plus, it's flake-free — perfect for my sensitive eyes.

Eye masks ($8) are always a good idea, and I keep a stash of them in my apartment and desk drawer at work. Whether I'm drinking my morning coffee or winding down on a Sunday night, they're an easy way to indulge my skin that hardly requires any effort. Bonus tip: keep them in the fridge until you're ready to use — the cool temp not only feels good but will help depuff your under eyes.

Liquid foundation has never been a consistent product in my makeup routine (I don't like how it feels on my face and, thankfully, don't usually have much to cover up), but I always keep a few concealers in rotation. This Spring, that includes L'Oreal Paris' Infallible Concealer ($13). Its creamy texture is exactly what my dehydrated skin needs, and the full coverage formula comes in handy if I'm dealing with a transitional weather breakout.

You can always trust Pond's to make a good moisturizer, and this option ($10) is no different. The formula not only includes vitamin B3 to even out your tone while hydrating your skin but has SPF 30 to keep it protected from UV damage. Although I use SPF year-round, this will give me extra peace of mind as the days begin to get sunnier and longer — finally!

There's nothing I love more than playing with lip colors, and this season, everything I'm liking happens to be in the orange family. Take this peachy nude ($12), for example. The fresh tone makes me think of Spring, and the nondrying formula won't flake or smudge, even if I'm wearing it for a full day.
