Just 1 Swipe of Huda Beauty's New Mascara Makes My Lashes Look Crazy Long

If I had to use one word to describe my makeup routine, I'd go with "minimal." I love a maximalist smoky eye just as much as the next person, but when it comes to an everyday look, I keep things pared down and simple. On a day-to-day basis, you can usually find me wearing the tiniest bit of tinted SPF as my base makeup, a heavy dose of bronzer on my cheeks and forehead, a light dusting of blush, and maybe a few swipes of mascara if I'm feeling adventurous.

I have most of my favorite makeup products on lock, but mascara is the one thing I'm always game to test out. I have short, stubby eyelashes, and it usually takes two different formulas and some heavy lifting from an eyelash curler to get them to be actually visible, so I'm always on the hunt for a product that will give me more for less. That's why I was so excited to hear about the launch of Huda Beauty's newest product, the 1 Coat Wow! Extra Volumizing and Lifting Mascara ($23), which claims that just one coat will get you the lashes of your dreams.

I genuinely don't enjoy wearing makeup daily, so when I do slap a little product on my face, I usually go for whatever is fastest and easiest — which means skipping mascara most of the time, because for me, it involves too many steps. When I heard that this mascara was so good you only needed one coat of product, I was a little skeptical at first. However, after testing it out on numerous occasions, I can confirm that the rumors are true, which makes doing my makeup that much easier.

In general, I find myself gravitating toward mascaras that offer a silicone brush because I find them more user-friendly, and that is the case with this product. The brush is a tiny bit bigger than my ideal size, which would be a little longer and skinnier, but overall, application has been seamless. Plus, the brush makes it easy to separate my lashes — something I usually have to do with a clean mascara wand. Additionally, I've had no issues with clumps whenever I've used this mascara — which is a problem I've been running into lately with practically every other product I've been testing.

I've also found that it doesn't smudge easily or cause "raccoon eyes." The dark formula lasts for hours, but is still easy to take off at the end of the day with a cleansing balm and face wash.

The brand recommends holding the mascara brush close to the lash line and swiping upward into your desired look with just one coat.

Although the first time I tested it I skipped the eyelash curler, now whenever I wear it, I still opt to quickly curl my lashes unless I'm just hanging out at home or doing Zoom calls. As for how much product I use, I've never really been a one-coat-of-mascara kind of girl, but one coat is enough to make my lashes look dramatically different. However, I've still found myself adding on an extra layer (old habits die hard), and I don't find that it makes the mascara clumpy or too heavy on my lashes. Regardless of how much product I swipe on, the end result is always the same: thick, defined eyelashes.

I have slightly hooded eyes, and although this mascara worked well for me, the large size and thickness of the brush might make it difficult to use if you have very hooded eyes.
