Olivia Wilde is in her "French-girl" era. On March 21, the actor's hairstylist Mara Roszak posted a picture of the star on Instagram with a very different look. On full display were her new curtain bangs.

Roszak shared the inspiration behind the haircut in her post with a caption that read, in part, "OLIVIA with what I call a "French girl bang." As it turns out, the idea for the bangs came from Roszak who had texted Wilde pictures of potential options until they landed on one that the star liked. "These 'French-girl bangs' are incredibly easy to wear and are universally flattering," Roszak tells POPSUGAR. "They start at the eye and then are blended into a cheekbone length with a layer forming around the jaw to give a sculpted shape."

To give the bangs that flowy, retro feel, Rozak first used the Rōz Santa Lucia Styling Oil ($45) to smooth Wilde's hair. After applying a soon-to-be-launched product on her ends, Rozak finished the look by giving the star a blowout. "I took an Ibiza Medium Boar Bristle Round Brush ($54), placed the hair on top, and blow dried from root to tip with the Bio Ionic Smart X High Efficiency Dryer ($329) for a soft, easy finish."

Curtain bangs are one of the many popular retro hairstyles that have made a comeback over the last few years. The cut has become a staple for everyone from celebrities to everyday hair enthusiasts alike. Take a closer look at Wilde's new bangs below.
