Beyoncé! Madonna! Rihanna! Music's Biggest Stars Mingle at the Tidal Launch Event

Beyoncé, Madonna, Kanye West, and more huge musicians joined Jay Z on Monday for the relaunch of their new music streaming service, Tidal, which Jay Z himself acquired for $56 million earlier this year. The NYC event also brought out Jack White, Daft Punk, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj as well as Usher, J. Cole, Jason Aldean, The Black Keys, and Deadmau5, while Calvin Harris and Coldplay's Chris Martin attended via satellite. After an introduction and inspiring opening statement from Alicia Keys, each artist took turns signing the "Tidal declaration" to cement their positions as co-owners of the service.

Before the big commemoration, the company released a YouTube video early Monday that showed all the stars meeting up for what looked like a superstar board meeting. Many of the musicians also changed their social media profile photos to a bright blue square to show solidarity for the relaunch. Tidal promises to be "the first music streaming service that combines the best high fidelity sound quality, high definition music videos and expertly curated editorial." With all the powerhouse musicians involved, Tidal will likely be a successful competitor to other services like Beats Music and Spotify.
