So This Is Why George Clooney Is Skipping Award Season

If you've been missing seeing George Clooney on the red carpet during award season this year, hopefully you can be warmed by the fact that he has a good excuse for being absent. The actor was hard at work on Tuesday when he popped up on the set of Tomorrowland in Valencia, Spain. He was joined on set by costar Hugh Laurie and two female actresses. While George wasn't nominated for any awards this year, his latest film, Gravity, has been scooping up nominations right and left, and many thought that George might pop up at the award shows to support his flick. He may still show up at the Oscars, as it is traditional for winners from the previous year to present during the award show. (George won best picture for Argo alongside Ben Affleck and longtime collaborator Grant Heslov.)

George will be in the spotlight very soon as he prepares to promote The Monuments Men, his new movie with Matt Damon and award season favorite Cate Blanchett. The film doesn't hit theaters until Feb. 7, but George's costars have already been busy on the press trail.
