Leonardo DiCaprio Pays a Special Visit to the Vatican and Meets With Pope Francis

On Thursday, Leonardo DiCaprio paid a special visit to the Vatican and had a private 15-minute meeting with Pope Francis. Although a spokesperson for the Vatican did not reveal any details about what they talked about, it's possible that they discussed climate change, since that's an environmental issue that the two are both very involved in. The spokesperson also told Us Weekly that "the actor gave the pope a book of art from the Dutch Renaissance painter Hieronymus Bosch, and at the end of the encounter, DiCaprio kissed the pope's ring and, in Italian, thanked the Holy Father for meeting with him."

Of course, Leo isn't the first Hollywood star to meet with Pope Francis. In January 2015, Angelina Jolie met with him after screening her film Unbroken at the Vatican. In a statement released by Universal Pictures, she said, "Being invited with my film to the Vatican is an honor and a great tribute to the story that I have told in Unbroken." Keep reading to see more of Leo's visit, and then see how much he's changed since his first award show red carpet.
