Is Miley Cyrus's Leaked Breakup Song About Liam Hemsworth?

Nearly nine months after Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth called off their engagement, a song rumored to be about their breakup has leaked. The song, aptly titled "Last Goodbye," was reportedly recorded for her Bangerz album but didn't make the final cut. "How has my best friend become such a stranger? It seemed like everything was fine. We've already been through this twice, and I'm never coming home for our last goodbye," Miley sings over instrumentation sure to draw comparisons to her hit "Wrecking Ball."

The lyrics sound autobiographical given Miley and Liam's roller-coaster relationship. Last April, the then-engaged couple reportedly delayed their wedding before finally announcing their split that September, and they routinely went long periods without being photographed together. As fate would have it, their last joint public appearance was at Liam's Paranoia premiere in August, mere weeks before she changed the trajectory of her career and public image with a scandalous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Miley seemed to suggest her wounds from the breakup were still fresh in early May. During a club performance in London, she gave an expletive-filled speech about someone "that broke my heart." The singer responded to the ensuing controversy with a tweet, writing, "Just FYI what I said the other night at G.A.Y had nothing to do with Liam. I was just tryin to rile up the boys."
