Sandra Bullock on Discussing Racism With Her Son: "It's an Open Conversation We Have"

Sandra Bullock has been busy promoting her upcoming film Our Brand Is Crisis, in which she stars alongside George Clooney as a political strategist trying to help a presidential candidate in war-torn South America. In a press interview with BET this week, the Oscar-winning actress was asked about her 5-year-old son Louis, who is black, and if she talks to him about racism and the current issues facing people of color. Without hesitation, Sandra replied that she "absolutely" discusses the topic with Louis, whom she adopted from New Orleans in 2010, saying, "It's an open conversation we have. He doesn't understand why people judge each other based on color of the skin, but he knows that they do."

She went on: "He also knows that there's sexism, he knows that there's homophobia," adding, "I think if you don't start the conversation very early on, you're doing them a disservice." Sandra also reiterated her recent quotes in Glamour magazine, in which she admitted, "If I could ride in a bubble with him for the rest of his life, I would. But I can't."
