The Spanish Royals Aren't Your Average Tourists Visiting Mount Vernon

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia made an official visit to the US this week for the first time since taking over the Spanish throne, making multiple appearances in Washington DC as part of their travels. On Tuesday, they packed in a busy schedule, touring George Washington's estate at Mount Vernon and then visiting the White House, where King Felipe VI met with President Barack Obama while Queen Letizia and First Lady Michelle Obama had tea and spent time in the White House Kitchen Garden. The visiting couple made yet another appearance later in the day when they met with the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Capitol Hill. The whirlwind day also happened to be Letizia's 43rd birthday, which she of course managed to celebrate in style! Their four-day stay in the US will continue with a trip to Miami and St. Augustine, FL, to celebrate the 450th birthday of the founding of St. Augustine.
