Wayne Knight Addresses Internet Death Hoax on Twitter

Don't Worry, Guys — Newman Is "Alive and Well"

A widespread hoax made its rounds across the Internet on Sunday, leading many people to believe Wayne Knight, aka Newman on Seinfeld, was involved in a fatal car crash. After fabricated news stories started trending on Facebook and Twitter, Wayne decided to assure the world he's still with us. "Some of you will be glad to hear this, others strangely disappointed, but….I am alive and well!" he tweeted.

About 17 minutes later, Wayne sent out another tweet, pointing out the story's absurd momentum. "Does someone have to DIE to trend? Geez! Thanks for all the love everybody. I didn’t know you cared. Glad to be breathing!" he wrote.

Wayne recently reprised his iconic role as Jerry Seinfeld's mailman nemesis in a Super Bowl ad. The '90s flashback Seinfeld reunion also featured Jason Alexander, aka George Costanza, and of course, Jerry himself.
