Channing Tatum Is a Happy Father of 1 — Get to Know His Daughter

Channing Tatum can do it all. The 43-year-old Hollywood hunk dances, acts, writes children's books, and, above all, is a doting dad. The "Magic Mike's Last Dance" actor is a loving father to his daughter, Everly Tatum, whom he coparents with ex-wife Jenna Dewan. The former couple welcomed their only child into the world in 2013, and though the two officially split in 2018, their daughter has remained a top priority for the pair.

Touching on his divorce and role as a father, Tatum revealed to Vanity Fair in February that his daughter helped him grow as a person, saying, "It just started with my daughter. I just dropped everything and just focused on her. And it was truly the best possible thing that I ever could have done. Because in the alone time that I have with just me and her, we've become best friends."

During an interview on "Today With Hoda & Jenna" (via E! News) in May, Tatum — who recently got engaged to Zoë Kravitz — was asked what kind of father he is, to which he replied, "I have no idea. I don't know. I'm just trying to get by. I think, just like every other parent, you're just kind of trying not to mess the kids up."

He continued: "As they get older, you start to realize, 'Oh, I have to set boundaries.' Even though they don't want boundaries, they do want them. Her anxiety goes down, her stress level goes down when she just understands the rules."

Tatum is so proud and inspired by his relationship with his daughter that he wrote a children's book with her in mind. "The One and Only Sparkella," released in 2021, tells the story of a young girl who strives to shine with the help of her dad.

Everly Elizabeth Maiselle Tatum

Everly Elizabeth Maiselle Tatum, aka "Evie," was born on May 31, 2013, to parents Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum in London. The pair announced the news on each of their websites at the time, saying, "Welcome to the World!," as reported by People.

Everly was 5 years old when Dewan and Tatum split in 2018, but the pair made it a point to have a healthy coparenting relationship for the sake of their daughter. "When I became a single father, I had a lot of fear about connecting to Everly in every way that a little girl might want," Tatum explained to Parents in 2021. "I didn't wear nail polish or know how to braid hair. But now I do both. I jumped with both feet into this magical world, and I was rewarded with a kind of love that I don't think I would have ever been able to have otherwise."

Everly is so special to her dad that she even inspired him to write a book. In May 2021, Tatum released "The One and Only Sparkella," a children's book based on his relationship with his daughter. "It wasn't like I had this giant idea that I wanted to write a kids' book. It was just something that I noticed in my daughter, watching her for the very first time become self-conscious," the actor told to People in 2021.

And at only 10 years old, Everly is already following in the footsteps of her dancer parents. In May 2022, Dewan revealed on Instagram that her daughter has an interest in Irish dancing, which she apparently is really passionate about. "Evie has always loved everything Irish, especially the music and most recently Irish dancing," she wrote in part.
