Gary Oldman has officially won his first Golden Globe! On Sunday, when Gary took the stage to accept the award for best actor in a drama, he began by quoting Winston Churchill, whom he portrayed in Darkest Hour, and then gave his wife, Gisele Schmidt, a sweet shout-out because she "put up with my crazy for over a year."

He then told a funny story about his wife while he was filming the movie, and it's too cute. "She would say to friends, 'I go to bed with Winston Churchill but I wake up with Gary Oldman,' which I suppose is better than the other way around," he said.

After Gary gave this sweet nod to Gisele, it got us wondering about the star's wife. Who is she? What do we know about her? Honestly, you might not know much, but we've discovered a few details about Gisele that will make her more recognizable to Gary's fans, especially now that he's won a Golden Globe and is likely to be nominated for more awards this season.

  1. She isn't his first wife. Gary has been married four other times. His most recent divorce was from Alex Edenborough in 2015. He has three children from two of his marriages and clearly isn't gun-shy about walking down the aisle.
  2. It was a California wedding. Gary married Gisele in August 2017, making it the fifth marriage for the British actor. The two wed in Beverly Hills, the Associated Press reported, at the home of Gary's manager.
  3. Gisele has been married before as well. While Gisele has only been married once before, she has said "I do" in the past, and even has a son with her now ex-husband.
  4. Art is her passion. Both Gary and Gisele are creative people, which might be why they were drawn to one another. Gisele is an art curator and writer, according to Page Six.
  5. She actually said "yes" to Winston Churchill. As Gary made clear in his Golden Globes speech, over the past year, he was Winston Churchill more than he was himself. That being said, the actor actually proposed to Gisele while dressed in costume on set. He told Graham Norton all about the proposal and couldn't believe that she said yes while he was in costume.
