You're Not the Only One Who Cherishes Alone Time

It's no secret that many of us are doing way, way too much. We cram our days with work from morning to night and then drag ourselves out after hours and on weekends to countless birthday or holiday parties, happy hours, networking events, bridal showers, housewarming soirees, girls' days out — the list goes on and on.

The pressure that we feel to stay busy is matched only by the pressure that we so often feel to be social. But what's it costing us? What happens when we live in a world — an online or offline one — that prioritizes popularity and makes us feel bad for being alone? I ask that question — and come with some helpful answers — in this video, my second in a series that's getting real about social expectations and going beyond the self-help cliches to be better.

I hope that watching this video will inspire you to take the #solochallenge. If it does, don't forget to share it with anyone that you think could use some help in pulling away from the crowds and not feeling bad about it. I promise you, I've learned from experience that taking these steps can help you be so much more useful in your work and in the world. You can miss a party for that, right?
