Sundance was full of great films this year, but only one took home the US grand jury prize and the audience award for a US dramatic film: The Birth of a Nation. Nate Parker (Beyond the Lights) directed, wrote, and stars in the film, which is set in antebellum Virginia. It's the true story of Nat Turner, a preacher who led an infamous slave rebellion in 1831. Armie Hammer, Gabrielle Union, Jackie Earle Haley, and Aja Naomi King are all costarring in the film, which Fox Searchlight acquired for a record $17.5 million at the festival. It's opening in limited release on Oct. 7, but it may also get a wide release. Stay tuned, and find out which Sundance movies you'll be able to catch on Netflix.
