6 Exciting Albums We Can Count on in 2017

The countdown to 2017 is on, and that means new TV shows, exciting movie releases, and lots of fresh music! There are tons of artists who are rumored to have new albums on the way — Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Jay Z, and Justin Timberlake, to name a few — but there are a handful who have already confirmed new albums within the year. We don't have specific release dates for all of the albums yet, but here are six musicians who will definitely be releasing their next albums in 2017!

It's been hard to escape from Sia after she dropped 1000 Forms of Fear in 2014 and This Is Acting in 2016. Because she's a genius, she's already prepping for her eighth studio album, We Are Your Children, to be released in "early" 2017.

Get ready for John May-nia to strike! The last year we got a full album from the singer was 2013, and Paradise Valley included hits like "Heavier Things" and "Battle Studies." The new album, The Search for Everything, is due out in 2017, but there's no official date yet. We do have the first single: "Love on the Weekend."

"Next year is a year of more music coming than I've ever put out in one year," Mayer said on Facebook in November. "That's really sort of what my career has been, it's what my life has been, it's the way that my mind works — it sort of consumes everything. That is very true to the nature of the record, which is sort of like a mixtape of all the music that inspires me and all the styles that I've made before, but certainly in my own certain way of doing it."

The rockers returned to the studio in September for an album that they teased may make it out before 2016. That window has all but closed, so it's safe to assume the record will be out in 2017. We don't have a date or a title yet, but we do know that OneRepublic vocalist Ryan Tedder is working with them on the album.

It's been ages since Port of Morrow was released in 2012. Thank goodness we can look forward to the group's fifth studio album, I Gleek on Your Grave, in 2017. No firm release date yet, but back in August, frontman James Mercer told a Portland radio station, "It looks like it will be coming out next year. Early next year, like January, hopefully, 2017." We can accept this.

Shockingly, we do have a release date for The xx's new album, I See You: Jan. 13. The first single, "On Hold," was released in November, and you can check out the track list and preorder on Amazon.

Clarkson's last album was Piece by Piece, released back in 2015. "I'm working on my new album now," she told People in November. "We are hoping the single will be in April, and then the album in June. It's my favorite thing I've ever done. It's the first time I got to pick my label, because I just got out of my [American] Idol contract. I've been dying to make this record since Idol."
