Eddie Murphy Refused to Do a Bill Cosby Impression on SNL's Anniversary Show
There was a lot of controversial humor during Saturday Night Live's 40th Anniversary Special, including a swipe at Bill Cosby during the Celebrity Jeopardy sketch. Kenan Thompson portrayed the comic, briefly appearing to talk about his favorite cocktails, a nod to Cosby's very public rape scandal. In a series of tweets, SNL alum Norm Macdonald revealed that Eddie Murphy rejected a suggestion that he play Cosby.
It's my job to talk him in to doing Jeopardy.

We talk in his dressing room a good hour. When it's over, I'm convinced he'll do it.

He doesn't.

He knew the laughs would bring the house down. Eddie Murphy knows what will work on SNL better than any one.

Eddie decides the laughs are not worth it. He will not kick a man when he is down.

Eddie Murphy, I realize, is not like the rest of us. Eddie does not need the laughs.

Eddie Murphy is the coolest, a rockstar even in a room with actual rockstars.

"I am very appreciative of Eddie, and I applaud his actions," Cosby said via a spokesperson. Eddie Murphy hasn't commented on Macdonald's remarks, but what do you think of the story? Did Murphy do the right thing?
