The Beloved Jurassic Park Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood Is Going Extinct

We've got some good news and some bad news, Jurassic Park fans, so hold on to your butts! (Sorry, we had to.) The good news is that Jurassic World is nigh, and that means we'll be seeing a slew of movie-inspired events and press for the next month. (Which means more Chris Pratt. Need we say more?)

The bad news? Jurassic Park fans know and love Jurassic Park — The Ride, featured at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, but sadly, the end is near for the beloved attraction. Universal Studios told POPSUGAR exclusively the 22-year-old ride will leave the park in the coming months. But if we know anything, dear reader, it's that life will find a way, and the ride will evolve, if you will, into a new Jurassic World-inspired experience come 2019.

Jurassic Park — The Ride, which launched at the park in 1996, officially goes extinct this fall and won't reopen until next year as the new Jurassic World Ride. We're told the ride will pay homage to the original films while incorporating a new immersive, technologically advanced experience for guests. In addition, Jurassic Cove restaurant and Jurassic Outfitters retail store will close during this time.

This news comes on the heels of the Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary Celebration happening at the park May 11-13, where fans of the film can come experience exclusive after-hours events like a Raptor Encounter and appearances by those who worked on the movie.
