When the British royal family stepped out for a Sunday church service in King's Lynn, England, Kate Middleton was wearing a purple tweed Michael Kors Collection suit — but there was something special about this design. Kate's sophisticated set included a tailored blazer and matching A-line midi skirt, rather than the standard knee-length pencil silhouette.

Her plaid two-piece came with regal flair, differentiating it from the standard version you might wear to work. Of course, the duchess infused her look with her signature style, accessorizing with a black Lock & Co felt hat, aptly called the "Fairy Tale." Kate completed her outfit with the same suede heeled Aquatalia boots she wore on Christmas day, and kept warm with a pair of gloves and a crisp black turtleneck.

Polishing off her outfit with an elegant clutch, Kate gave us good reason to take tweed to the next level, and try working the material into a fancier ensemble. Read on for plenty of outfit inspiration ahead.
