Olivia Palermo Just Cut Your Fall Shopping List Down to These 3 Items

When Fall shopping comes around, our list is looking pretty long, but not Olivia Palermo's. In true fashion-girl sense, she's narrowed the list down to only three pieces we really need and shared the tidbit during her chat with Amazon's Style Code Live.

That's not all though. Olivia's been busy hopping from show to show during Fashion Month, so it's only appropriate she also dished on the Spring '17 trends she's loving. When it comes to buying and dressing for the seasons, Olivia's got us covered. Read ahead for more of her style advice we can work into our wardrobes year round.

Olivia on Her Favorite Spring '17 Trends

"I really loved Altuzarra's collection. One thing I really love about him is that he takes patterns that he's worked with in the past and he keeps that consistency and playing off different checks and gingham and stripes in different ways. It was really refreshing. I like that. And Prabal. With the silhouettes, I would say you're still seeing lots of loose, fluid, moments, lots of silks, lots of chiffons. I always think for today, because the weather, the climate's changed so much and I’m in so many different time zones and different places. Overall, there's one, you have like an all year wardrobe which is probably a pair of jeans or trousers or you know blazer that you can always have with you so I try to kind’ve keep that with me at all times."

Olivia on Her Personal Style

"It's eclectic, but there's always a little bit of a tailored element to it and it's a bit accessorized. I think, you know, try to play with little, play with different patterns and textures and play up the accessories and incorporate a little bit of color."

Olivia on Flats vs. Heels

"I love both. You know, I think it depends on the atmosphere, you know, you can be equally as chic and feel comfortable in a pair of flats. It's about the proportions on how you wear it. So that's something to keep in mind. I love heels too because you feel . . . it gives you a little bit of a powerful feel. You feel confident, but I think also the way you look in flats, a woman can be very elegant as well."

Olivia on the Three Pieces Every Girl Needs For Fall

"I always say a great statement coat; you can have that forever. A pair of cropped trousers because you can wear them with a pair of heels, booties, or a pair of flats and that's kind of seasonal as well. And then a light sweater because this is the perfect time where you're kind of still feeling summer but it's not appropriate to be in the summer so you kind of are looking forward to fall so you know taking a dress and then a light sweater and doing some light layering is also great."

Olivia on Her Husband Johannes Huebl's Fashion Sense

"I think he has an amazing sense of style and I do love basically everything. There's one or two things. I think it's same thing with him. But you know, we give each other good advice and you know, maybe not Converse with — I love Converse, but just not the high top version with shorts. I don't think the proportions fit in that. He doesn't really wear it very often."
