Everything You Need For a Healthy Post-Workout Brunch — Including Cocktails

You've just finished a sweat-inducing 60-minute cardio class and all you can think about is refueling. Sure, you could just grab a protein shake on your way home, but it's Saturday afternoon and that's not very fun. Instead, why don't you plan ahead and host a healthy post-workout brunch at your place? Rally everyone after their classes and tell them to meet at your address for some bites and booze (yes, we're serious). Up ahead, find out what you need.

Create a freshly squeezed juice station

When your guests walk in, make sure they have an immediate visual destination — some place that easily catches their attention. That way, once they've dropped off their yoga mats and taken off their running shoes, they'll head right to your fruit juice station to settle in.

Seasonable fruits and berries make everyone happy

Since you're going to be coming straight from a workout yourself, do as much prep work as you can ahead of time.

Visit your farmers market the day (or two) before your brunch. Find out what's in season, and rinse everything the day before your event to save time.

Frittatas are packed with protein and are filling

It should only take you 20 minutes or so to put together this verdant frittata. Made with classic Mediterranean ingredients like peppers, onions, and spinach, this egg white-based dish will keep everyone pleasantly satiated without the typical brunch guilt.

Expecting any vegan and gluten-free guests? This nutty granola is the perfect item to add to the menu. Made with ingredients like quinoa, walnuts, and figs, you can easily make this ahead of time and store in the fridge until you need it.

What's brunch without the booze? Rather than pouring friends calorie-heavy sips like Bloody Marys, create a DIY bellini and mimosa station. Bellinis are made with just Champagne and peach puree (peaches, lemon juice, and sugar) and have around 65 calories. Mimosas, which are made with orange juice, come in at around 80 calories. Having it set up as a DIY means guests can tweak how much puree and orange juice they want.

Add a personal touch

Add a personal touch

Elevate traditional brunch by setting the table ahead of time and laying out interesting name cards. You don't need to go over the top – try writing a name on a small piece of paper and setting it out on top of an herb or plant.
