Julianne Hough Opens Up About the "Frustrating" Effect Her Endometriosis Pain Has on Her Sex Life

Julianne Hough has never been one to shy away from an honest talk about living with endometriosis. In a very open interview with Women's Health, the Dancing With The Stars alum recently discussed how the chronic pain she experiences as a result of the disorder tends to affect her sex life with her husband, Brooks Laich. "It can definitely cut things short," she said. "Sometimes we're in the middle and I'm just like 'AH, stop!' It can be frustrating."

While sex can sometimes be a struggle for the couple, they've still managed to keep things spicy in the bedroom by finding some creative loopholes. "He only wants to love on me and make me feel good," Hough revealed. "There's so much intimacy without actually having sex. There are some cool things we've learned and it's literally been awesome." Hough was diagnosed with endometriosis when she was 20 years old, though she'd been experiencing symptoms throughout her teenage years. "I first started experiencing symptoms back when I was 15, but I thought it was just what it feels like to be a girl with bad periods," she said. "I didn't think to go to the gynecologist. Because I'm a competitor, I felt like I had to push through the pain and just work."

Now at 30, the actress has discovered other ways to listen to and care for her body when dealing with symptoms. "If I don't feel like working out that day, then I don't do it. If I want to sleep in, then I will." She added later when discussing her how she handles her episodes, "Instead of getting frustrated, I acknowledge it, honor what it is, and move on. It's all about connecting to your body, loving it unconditionally, and trusting how you feel." Head to Women's Health to read the full interview.
