The Best Glass For Beer

While at home, most tend to stick to the old pint-glass standard when drinking beer, but a representative of Anchor Brewing recently informed me that a classic pilsner flute, as pictured, is the choice glass. The stem prevents your fingers from warming up the beer, and the shape prevents the carbonation from escaping and the foamy head from dissipating. However, the brew company also recommended a standard wineglass for drinking beer. Reminiscent of the goblets used for Belgian-style ales, a wineglass may help trap the aromas and head of the beer to make drinking it a more sensuous experience. We're certainly intrigued and dying to conduct a side-by-side comparison of both, along with a pint glass. Stay tuned, and in the meantime, read up on whether wineglass shapes really do make a difference.
